The largest and longest press conference of E3 2019 belonged to Microsoft. It gave us a bucket of new games for Xbox One, as well as some major news and announcements. But nothing was more important than the reveal of Microsoft's next-gen Xbox plans, which has been codenamed "Project Scarlett." Scarlett, whatever it ends up being, will launch in holiday 2020 alongside Halo Infinite. You can watch a replay of the full conference above or read on for a recap of the biggest news and announcements.
One of the biggest leaks from E3 involved Elden Ring, the From Software/George RR Martin collaboration. Elden Ring was confirmed in the stream with a cinematic trailer, but there were few details to be had.
Even bigger was the new Xbox, Scarlett. This next-gen console was unveiled at the end of the event and will launch Holiday 2020, coinciding with the release of Halo Infinite. It's 4X as powerful as Xbox One X. Another new piece of hardware is a follow-up to the Xbox Elite controller.
Keanu Reeves took the stage early on for a surprise reveal that he's involved with Cyberpunk 2077. We also got a release date of April 16, 2020. Other major news includes Gears 5's release date, Phantasy Star Online 2's western launch, and the unveiling of Ninja Theory's new game Bleeding Edge.
Some of what Microsoft will talk about has already made its way online. Pricing and games for the PC version of Xbox Game Pass have been discovered, and a list of upcoming Game Pass titles has leaked. Additionally, Game Pass Ultimate has launched; this is a premium subscription that combines the PC and Xbox One versions of Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. You can get your first month of it for $1, but it will normally cost $15 per month.
