Microsoft's E3 press conference gave us a glimpse at the next generation of hardware. Microsoft announced the new Xbox console Scarlett platform (now called Xbox Series X). Microsoft also confirmed another big piece of news: Halo Infinite as a launch title.

A trailer for Infinite was shown during the Xbox press conference, but it did not feature any gameplay. We subsequently learned it will stay dark until E3 2020, so we won't be learning much about the game for the next year. What we did find out is that the game will focus on Master Chief, whose primary focus will be "mysteries surrounding the appearance of The Pilot and the desolate remains of a Halo ring."

Microsoft reiterated that Infinite runs on 343 Industries' "next-generation" game engine, known as Slipspace. While the Scarlett release is the most exciting version of the game, it will also still come to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC as previously announced.

Halo Infinite and Xbox Scarlett will launch Holiday 2020. A more specific release date was not shared, nor were any further details on what to expect from the game.
