The companion app features much of the same functionality found in the existing Xbox 360 SmartGlass application, like the ability to pair a device with the Xbox One to control menus and media.

The Xbox One SmartGlass app also allows users to search, browse, and pin content to play on their Xbox One system. In addition, users can track achievements, message friends, and watch GameDVR clips using the app.

In the case of Dead Rising 3, various missions will be playable only if a user has the app installed. The app's release comes just days before the Xbox One hits store shelves in 13 territories across the world this Friday, November 22.
