Xbox One Sales on Black Friday "Really Strong," Microsoft Says

"My sources tell me both systems sold very well."

Microsoft has offered the Xbox One since Black Friday for just $300, a $50 markdown from its normal price. Apparently, that lower price point enticed quite a few people to pick up the new-generation system.

Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg says on Twitter that the Xbox One enjoyed "really strong Black Friday" sales. In another tweet, Greenberg said the PlayStation 4 also probably saw big sales.

"My sources tell me both systems sold very well," he said. "Great news for gamers."

Neither Microsoft nor Sony have announced any specific Black Friday console sales numbers. That's not much of a surprise, given the $300 Xbox One and PS4 offers are continuing now through Cyber Monday. If either company does choose to share specific sales figures, we'd expect them to wait until later in the week.

Whatever the case, a new survey found that the PS4 and Xbox One were among the the top-selling pieces of electronics on Black Friday. Greenberg said previously that Microsoft is expecting a "massive migration" of Xbox 360 owners upgrading to Xbox One this year.
