Lords of the Fallen co-developer Deck 13, which we recently learned will not be involved in the game's sequel, on Friday announced its next game--or at least started to.

Deck 13 and Focus Home Interactive announced a partnership for what they're calling a "premium action RPG IP set in a dystopian sci-fi future to be revealed by name at a later date."

Details are light at the moment, but this game will feature "innovative combat mechanics" and an "original character progression system," along with "tight, visceral combat," according to its developers. Only one image has been released so far; check out it below.

"We are ecstatic to announce this new partnership with one of the very best independent European development studios," Focus Home managing partner Cedric Lagarrigue said in a statement. "We've been excited by Deck 13's new project since our first exchange with them, and as we've just got through the pre-production phase, we're fully convinced by their capacities to deliver one of the most exciting RPGs to come in the future."

This new game, which represents a new IP, will be announced "at a later date." No venues for the announcement were named, but E3 is right around the corner.

The project is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.

GameSpot's 8/10 Lords of the Fallen review praised the Dark Souls-like game's combat system and atmospheric worlds. Reviewer Kevin VanOrd also enjoyed its grotesque creature designs that helped hammer home the dark setting.
