Xbox One Power Supply Units Now Available to Buy

You can get a new one for as little as $35 if it's not covered under your warranty.

Up until recently, there was no way to buy an additional Xbox One power supply, which was kind of a bummer if you needed one. But now, Microsoft has added that very option to the Xbox Support site.

Simply head to the Xbox Support site, select "Replace an Accessory," and then choose Power Supply. From there, you can either choose to return a non-functioning power supply to Microsoft and get a new one for $35, or you can buy a new one outright for $50.

A replacement power supply is not covered under the standard Xbox One warranty. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb confirmed the news on Reddit (via Microsoft-News).

In other Xbox One news, the console is "gaining momentum" in the United States. In August, the console was outsold again by the PlayStation 4, but sales grew 26 percent compared to last year.

@yukushi: How about Sony work on a new interface that is less boring and more appealing to look at like the Xbox One's. Games do look good on PS4 but navigating to get there on a boring blah interface kinda sucks! Guess you haven't seen Forza 6 running on the X1 yet, huh? Games don't get any better looking than that!

@joshrmeyer: As long as the interface looks good and is easy to navigate I could give 2 shits how much less ram the PS4 uses than the X1 to run the interface! I own both systems and I think the X1 has the PS4 beat in lot of areas including the interface! Currently I own 12 games for my X1 and 3 for my PS4! So which do you think my console of choice is? You can love your PS4 if you want and talk about how much better it is but I disagree. I have owned both since launch and prefer my X1, that's my opinion! It may not be as powerful as the PS4 but the overall experience for me is much better on X1.

@yukushi: That might be true graphic wise but that game was a train wreck when it launched. The multiplayer had some serious issues for a long time, it might be better by now but I've pretty much lost all interest in playing Driveclub. I've always enjoyed everything in the Forza games. I started playing Forza 6 yesterday and it's an awesome game ! I'm sticking with the Forza series.

@virtuasega: it's not hard at all to navigate the X1 interface. You can pin favorites to the home page as well. I don't get why people think it's such a pain in the ass to navigate. I can get where I wanna be actually faster with the tiles on X1. On PS4 you still have to scroll side to or up down to find the icons. It's not any faster, just boring and unattractive.

@sampson3121: I get, it is not that the PS4 is a 1080p console. It's all about to have more pixels than the XB1. Which brings me to believe that you will be ok with a multiplat game of 2p resolution as long the XB1 version is 1p.

@Thanatos2k: I would not called CDPR competent, the witcher 3 at launch was a total disaster with the poor frame rate on both consoles. However, the frame rate on the xbx 1 was higher than ps4, maybe because ilthe resolution was 900p, but the game looks beautiful regardless.

Maybe Avalanche studios is more competent than these guys since Mad Max runs at 1080p on both consoles. Or EA is more competent than Konami since fifa16 runs at 1080p over the sub 1080p of PES16.

We do not know the exact reason and trade offs the developers have to go through. It is clear that the PS4 hardware has better specs on paper than the XB1, but so far it is struggling to reach what many dream of in a console game which is 1080p/60fps.

Af for Battlefront, I dont beleieve that the developer is doing 900p on the ps4 to achieve parity like AC Unity did. It maybe more of hardware limitations on the ps4 for what the scope of the game is.

@i_am_kesmonkey: yes. the ps4 runs games natively in 1080p. so it's the choice of the developer to run in 900p. where as the x1 has to be up scaled to 1080p.

@yukushi: They already include a cable that allows all their games to be played in 4K. Since xbox gamers can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, the 4K cable gives them a competitive edge on their 32" 720p TV's.

@bobafetthatesu: had a samsung 32" plasma tv running the ps4 and was looking alright. Now i have a sony 40" smart lcd tv and oh me days big differance, and that was just upgrading tv. I honestly can see the differance I see the details more with the lights/sunlights, (many peeps geting easy shots in battlefiled from stoping and staring) and gta 5 at night looks so vibrant and better.

I dont know what you ment by proper gear but just switching the tv was a start

@heavengirl15: There're no convincing people with ADHD that there are differences when you are limited to playing on small screens. Anything larger than 27" is too much data for your little brains to process without adderall. The majority of the displays out there TV wise are 720p at 32" or less so it's impossible for you kids to actually see anything different. You're comparing everything at one resolution. I get that and you have my sympathies..

Forgot playing in surround with 3 screens on PC, that would overload your senses too much. If you could game on something like a 60" or larger display the differences are obvious. Since I am primarily a 4K PC gamer on a 60" display I will never understand the obsessive advocacy for 900p. If it's all you can process then enjoy it. You can have it. if you are one of those people that can't see the differences between quality and shit then you have a much simpler and happier life.

@bobafetthatesu: I was talking about a difference between 1080p vs 900p in the actual image on the TV. We all know that 1080p offers more pixels, but who can really sit and count them or really distiguish a clear difference between both? That is what digital foundry is for.

You bring up 4K, and yes the story is different. I have a Sony 70 inch 4k, and a 65 inch Samsung 1080p. The difference is surely noticeable when comparing them side by side, but to be honest at 9 ft the pixel advantage of the 4K become less apparent, that is why I have this feeling that I overpaid for the 4K since the content is limited and the advantages are minimum from where I watch it.

As for the advocacy of 900p, I am not suggesting that that should be the norm. I want 4k games on a console, but for $400 we should not expect that, or at least not on this generation. I could easily afford to enter the "elite pc gamer club", but I am lazy to deal with all of those driver updates, hardware requitements, etc. I have seen people doing flight simulation stuff on 3 screens and looks fun sure, but I prefer simplicity, so I will just play my console and mobile games without the fancy stuff.

This is a thing? In two years I haven't had a single person come in looking for an X1 power supply. Not even the "My dog chewed through the cable" people I usually get. It's good that they are selling them separate in any event. I'm sure its only a matter of time before someone loses theirs or some other mischief occurs. The only time I've seen a new one is through warranty support.
