Xbox One Minecraft is “really close”
Notch says that he’s excited about the quality of the Xbox One version.
Microsoft says that the Xbox One version of Minecraft is getting closer to release.
Microsoft Games Studios chief Phil Spencer told IGN that 4J Studios, the developer behind the console versions of Minecraft, controls the release date of Minecraft for Xbox One, but that after talking to them he could say that “we’re getting really close.”
Spencer said that he also talked to Markus “Notch” Persson, and that the Minecraft creator is really excited about the quality of the Xbox One version.
Last week, 4J Studios announced an update to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Minecraft, with changes and additions that are already available in the PC version. The update is out now.
After learning that Facebook bought Oculus VR for $2 billion, Persson also revealed that he canceled a free version of Minecraft designed to promote virtual reality, saying that the social networking company creeps him out.
