Xbox One X And All-Digital Edition Discontinued

Update: Microsoft has now confirmed that production on both the Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be stopped in the lead up to the Xbox Series X launch. The Xbox One S will continue to be sold.

"As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we're taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition," Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge. "Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold globally."

The move paves the way for Microsoft to establish a new lineup of consoles with the Xbox One S as the budget-priced model and Xbox Series X as a higher-priced alternative. Although it has not announced the model yet, Microsoft is widely expected to launch a cheaper version of the Series X that's codenamed Lockhart.

Original Story: Xbox One consoles--except for the Xbox One S-- have reportedly been discontinued in the lead up to the launch of the Xbox Series X. Reported by GamesIndustry.Biz, retailers in Australia and the U.S. have all either removed the Xbox One family of consoles from their storefront or marked them discontinued.

The U.S. Amazon store shows that all of the Xbox One consoles--base, S, and X--have been discontinued, however Microsoft executive Dan Tavares clarified on Twitter that "Xbox One S is very much still available, we just changed SKU numbers. Amazon is just messy in how they show products." Tavares did not mention the other versions of the console.

Metro also reported that Amazon and Target have both discontinued the Xbox One console family in the U.S.

Microsoft Australia is no longer listing the Xbox One or Xbox One X, according to Press Start. It is still offering the Xbox One S and has a listing for the Xbox Series X. They also confirmed with two prominent retailers in the region that the Xbox One X has been removed from their systems, preventing them from ordering more stock.

Microsoft's Xbox Series X first-party showcase takes place on July 23 and the company recently confirmed that the event will not cover hardware, but instead only feature games.
