Xbox One: Big News About Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility And A "Surprise" Coming Soon

Microsoft is preparing to make some kind of announcement about Original Xbox backwards compatibility support on Xbox One, it seems. In a blog post today, Microsoft said it has a "big update" to share regarding this. The announcement will be made during the next episode of Inside Xbox, which premieres on Tuesday, April 10, at 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET.

"One of our most common requests is for Original Xbox Backward Compatibility news, and we'll be starting off the show with a big update on just that," Microsoft said in a post on the Xbox Wire.

Now Playing: GS News Update: Two More Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games Now Available

On Monday, April 9, Microsoft will provide a "full breakdown" of what to expect from the next episode of Inside Xbox. That being said, Microsoft teased that "we reserve the right to keep a moment or two fully under wraps for a proper surprise."

There are currently 13 Original Xbox games available on Xbox One through backwards compatibility, including Black, Psychonauts, Prince of Persia, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The first episode of Inside Xbox premiered in March, and it brought news about Sea of Thieves and PUBG, as well as another look at the new Duke controller.

backward compatible on windows 10, with a xbox 360 and xbox games even physical disc too, then i could relive perfect dark zero and perfect dark xbla again.

@nsignific: A perfect way to kill off X1 for good. Everyone would win since PC people can play on there and console people can buy X1 if they want.

While BC is nice on consoles, you can pretty much count on it only lasting a few years, after which you need to start hoping again. On PC that isn't much of a fear

Maybe they will be opening Halo 2 multiplayer back up again - that would be radical!

Really gotta give Kudos to MS for the way they are handling their back catalog of 360 games and now original games. They didn’t have to do it.

Mate, I hyped for this new announcement. I don't recall MS promo-ing a "we have a huge surprise" in years. I'm guessing it may be a Sony exclusive that's jumping over maybe. OR some new exclusive.

@hollywood1: So Gamespot creates toxic articles trolling gamers to generate traffic and now they can't handle the heat. That's actually a bad thing since it's the only reason there were any substantial amount people coming to the site was for the laughs the troll comments contributed. Now GS is going to become a ghost town.

After getting my X the first game I played was the enhanced KOTOR, still holds up. Any number of original XBox games I'd like to see in bc: KOTOR 2, Thief, the Riddick games, Morrowind, Dreamfall, Freedom Fighters, Jade Empire.

Pretty sure a while back when they talked about the Scorpio (aka Xbox One X) they said it will have full BC for ORIGINAL XBOX GAMES. So I'm betting that is the big fuss they will reveal and maybe new Exclusive. I could be wrong though. Can't wait to here what ever the news.
