@Mirimon78: Considering this is one of your 30+ messages you made yesterday bashing xbox, then I'm going to play it safe and say that your bias makes everything you say a load of crap.

Also, you apparently made those messages from the moment you woke up until the moment you went bed. You literally have no life outside of this site. That's sad on an epic level.

I'm so sick of these mediocre sales on Xbox..

I never really compaired slaes from PS4 to Xbox

but when it comes to buying digital games= PS4 is way superior.

*This pisses me off since I have a TB hard drive on Xbox and only 500GB on PS4.

*Doom was just $20-30 for the whole holiday season everywhere.

'THE GREATEST XBOX SALE EVER"

sad & pathetic if this is the case...

"Quantum Break + Watchdogs"

they are discounting the games that clearly don't sell as well..

Most gamers already have Fallout by now...

***Xbox Sale = scam

***Xbox is terrified to offer steam like sales which are real sales.

The only games that they offer cheap are games that suck like bATTLEBORN, Dead Rising and the Division.

(I hate The Division. one of the rare times I splurged on the collector's edition for $160 and got a cheap $15 digital watch

and a cheaper game...really wanted Division to succeed too. Ubisoft is one of the rare good guys in gaming, but that game killed me..

~~I had to play Farcry4 just to cleanse myself....

@gameroutlawzz: aw... 29? How cute, ypu are bew to gaming after all.

Go treat yourself to looking up ubisoft history and note the long list of good games in there, backed by rating from users and reviewers. Not saying the ubisoft of today is all that great, they have made some poor decisions, but to claim that all they have ever published is bad is simply false.

It's ok kid, I wouldn't expect you to know that given your limited experience.

@sellingthings: it doesn't reduce the value of good games under it. Child of Light is an example, and I dare you to say it was a bad game.

Again, I am not defending ubisoft, I am saying it is wrong to label every game published by them as bad.

@sellingthings: first of all, what you are saying and what you said are different things.

Secondly, ubisoft rating would depend by what metric. If you rated them by the average metacric scores of all the games they made for 2016 they rank 9th best... over the last 10 years they rank a bit higher. If you woumd rank them on their actions as a company, then they are the 9th worst, not the worst, that credit still goes to EA and others.

@sellingthings: so your claim is based purely on your opinion against that of the majority, which is even more odd and shows you are not as experienced with gaming as you would claim to be, orherwise you would have pointed at EA, or the slew of companies who took funding and under delivered or didn't deliver at all.

@sellingthings: blindly follow? These rankings are based on votes. Mine included. Their business practices, the poor way they treat employees and customers alike....and they are but the tip of that iceburg, there are several more following EA before you can say ubisoft is "the worst"...

Bullet in the head eh? Might want to think before you post kid.

@Mirimon78:

This has been an especially bad year for Ubisoft, and it's only gotten worse as of yesterday. Whereas EA is usually cast as a corporate villain industry, Ubisoft is not normally quite as persecuted. Before this, their most memorable controversies Involved overly-intrusive DRM, but now? They're being painted as the face of everything wrong with modern gaming, from deceptive marketing to recycled concepts to crass monetization.

Here's a list of some of the charges , in rough chronological order:

- Watch Dogs was accused of "over dressing" E3 footage to look incredibly cinematic, yet the final product was a less remarkable visual experience and far from the next-gen graphical revolution that was promised.

- Watchdogs failed to live up to its own hype, much of it arguably put forth by Ubisoft, Ubisoft or at least working through the press. The game was serviceable, but unremarkable , Which was deemed a sin by the public given how much was promised.

- During E3 2014, Ubisoft stumbled over questions about why the recently revealed Assassin's Creed Unity did not have playable female characters, saying that it was simply too much work to animate .

- Ahead of the Assassin's Creed Unity launch, Ubisoft revealed the game would be locked at 30 FPS to create a more "cinematic" experience , an explanation fans deemed a public relations whitewash of a technical hurdle They were simply unable-or unwilling to overcome.

- Arriving at the launch of Assassin's Creed Unity, review copies were given out to critics, but with the stipulation their review that could not go live Until 12 full hours after the game's midnight launch . Then, when it was revealed that Unity suffered from a myriad of technical problems across all platforms (including framerate, ironically), the move looked to many like an attempt by Ubisoft to sell day one copies to fans before any negative press could get out regarding the technical problems or the quality of the game itself.

- Assassin's Creed Unity features a number of troubling gameplay elements, including micro transactions that sacrifice in-game currency for packages priced as high as $ 99 . Past that, the game scatters chests throughout the map that can only be accessed if you game is connected via an AC or Uplay app.

- Far Cry 4 was overpriced becoming a part of Ubisoft's new "annual" release schedule, accused of looking like extended DLC rather than a meaningful evolution of the series.

- In general, fans decry Ubisoft's constant use of an extremely similar formula across all their major series, including the capture points on an open world map and a huge amount of copy / paste sidequests and collectables, which may have reached their peak with the drowning- set-icons AC: Unity map.

That's eight different controversies, each a differing level of seriousness, but all come together to form a picture of a company that seems to be on the wrong track, at least of according to fans who buy its products.

The oldest charge is one that's going to resonate well into the future. Ubisoft has been a master of creating eye-catching, buzz-building cinematic trailer for their games, using the actual pre-rendered CGI, but overpriced stylized gameplay. But the problem is now, the gameplay shown at events like E3 simply does not match the final product. That was most prominently on display with Watchdogs, but it's happened again with The Division, which is less visually impressive than when it was announced. The issue now Is that Ubisoft can show any kind of visually spectacular footage and ask met with claims of "well it will not look like that at launch."

Some of the issues are intermediate relatively mines and industry-wide. Ubisoft botched the playable female character question with Unity, but obviously more meaningful women in the lead roles is something that is not an entirely Ubisoft-specific problems. Neither is the eternal loop of hype-building between publishers, the press and fans, building up games with impossible promises and expectations, and then having them pray let-downs at launch as a result.

But the most recent issues with Unity are serious and related to Ubisoft directly. The " weaponized review embargo " as Polygon's Ben Kuchera recently put it, was a nasty bit of a game-playing that looked entirely self-serving and was the largest issue that managed to unite a feuding games press with their readers for the first time in months.

Though Ubisoft has mostly avoided the EA-style disasters of launching games to inoperable servers, as their games are mostly single-player, the technical problems with Unity are a different kind of launch issue, and one that's just as serious. It's here that we see the cracks starting to show in Ubisoft's newfound mandatory yearly release schedule for Assassin's Creed, and now presumably Far Cry as well. Essentially blackmailing the pressure with a bizarre embargo time (either you agree to it or you do not get review copies any more) let players pick up the game on good faith alone before anything negative could be written about it. But that's the problem with "good faith;" it goes away.

The gaming public is quickly becoming wary of what companies like Ubisoft are doing with glorious, too-good-to-be-true E3 footage is drawing skeptics forward to buying their product. And huge AAA games which are forcing post-launch review embargos on the press are going to look like they have something to hide. These are tricks you can pull only so many times before your customers catch on. There's a fine line between doing what you have to do to sell your product, and tricking (formerly) loyal customers into picking a game they might not have bought otherwise if they had all the facts.

In terms of Ubisoft's struggles with what their roster of games actually contains, Unity is full of rotten ideas for the "future of games," Whether its $ 99 micro transaction bundles in a $ 60 game, or locked chests that can only be opened with companion iPhone apps . Though Ubisoft is not the first company to use micro-transactions into full retail games or try to shoehorn into their own services or apps, they're doing it in a way with Unity that is simply obnoxious, and between these Items and the multiple- AC-games-per-year release schedule, it looks desperate, like they're trying to squeeze every single drop of blood out of the least. Say what you will about an also-annual franchises like Call of Duty that many view as derivative and sometimes exploitative, but even they're not offering $ 99 'unlock all guns' bundles. Yet.

A common refrain when we deal with these kinds of issues is that "well, publishers need to make money." That I understand, but there's a limit to what you can do without completely alienating your customers. You have a game like Elder Scrolls Online (Note Ubisoft) Which Has A) a traditional box-copy cost B) a subscription model and C) in-game micro transactions /now you can also play for free, but those options remain). And how big of a hit was that game? Game developers can not have it all. Even if a game like AC: Unity is only doing two out of three, there are gamers out there who remember when "unlock everything" was a cheat code in single-player games, and now it's a $ 99 macro transaction.

Yes, making games is expensive, and especially so When It Comes To AAA blockbusters, but the further we get down this road, the less the "games are art" argument Seems to apply. Assassin's Creed can be a fun, thoughtful, intelligent series when It's at its best. Why does it have to be forcefully milked by its own publisher with rushed-out sequels, cash-grab micro transactions and "enhanced" elements like app-locked chests? It's like if after Gladiator won an Oscar, there was a new sequel released every year, and by the time Gladiator 5 rolls around, you're paying 50% more to see it in 3D and you'll have to download an app to watch the bonus scenes on your iPad.

The film / TV comparisons are always tough because games have the unprecedented portability to charge for anything and everything, whereas all other forms of media can do is raise ticket prices or subscription rates. Non-F2P, non-indie video games have the $ 60 price point locked in place, and now publishers are trying to figure out how games can cost $ 100 or more between the DLC season passes, micro transactions, subscriptions and more. Ubisoft is rushing out games and trying controversial revenue generation, all at the same time, and it's not just creating a poor user experience, it's making them look sloppy and cavalier about their relationship with their fanbase.

Assassin's Creed franchise needs to slow down or it will go off the rails completely - now I'm starting to realize that this seems like it applies to Ubisoft as a whole. EA lost consumer trust more or less completely for a period of time, and is just now starting to earn it back. But this year, Ubisoft has given Into the same trap in different ways, with the consumers no longer trusting their advertising (because of enhanced footage) or their retail releases (because of an apparent attempt to silence the press). And in pumping out more games from their beloved series more often, they're diluting all the properties Involved by rushing out a final product that does not have enough time to be an innovative evolution for the series, or one that's filled with technical issues . Or both.

Consumers want:

A) A product that looks like what was advertised;

B) Not to be Talked down to the PR speak;

C) A working product at launch;

D) To be Respected for shelling out $ 60 for a new game, and not goaded into paying even more.

These are not difficult goals to accomplish, and it's amazing how far a little honesty will go into an industry where consumers constantly feel misled. Obviously every company exists to make money, but when your customers feel deceived or like their loyalty is being exploited, you've taken a wrong turn. And Ubisoft has taken at least a half dozen wrong turns this year, and now seem to be lost in the labyrinth EA only recently escaped from.

@Gbullet: I agree with all said above, and if things continue they will be heading towards the "worst publisher company" title, they are not yet thier though as the actions and stigma earned by 8 other publishers keeps them 8n place.

Can they correct course? Sure, will they? Who knows, if they follow their recent trends no, especially if the other companies improve or die suddenly.

@HOLYSHMUCK: The selection of games is pretty underwhelming, despite it being touted as the biggest games sale to date, and the most of these "sale" prices aren't anything special. Hell, the majority of this sale is just the Black Friday sale being recycled, only, in several instances, the prices are actually higher. Just doesn't "wow" me.

Just once I'd love Microsoft and/or Sony to have a sale where the selection and prices are so freakin' amazing that my only complaint is that I don't have enough money/hard drive space/free time for everything I want to buy.

@poemann79: you can get doom for PS4 and pc for 19 on Amazon or steam. Shitty deal on x1 because Microsoft charges their publishers more to use their store. Dumbasses they are. So if you have another platform buy it for that and save another 10 bucks. Fallout for is 19 damn near everywhere.

@poemann79: I would say Doom. You get a fast and sweet campaign that is intense and thrilling every single step of the way. It has incredible graphics and comes with a mediocre multiplayer option on the side. You can also build your own levels for MP. You're like on a non-stop rampage in Mars killing demons with a decent and fun story behind it.

Fallout 4 is a longer game with more content but some things are a chore. Long and open-world games tend to have a lot of recycled content to stretch the length of the game. If you don't like the game much you got yourself a long and boring game, that is a drag. If you do like it then you you're good for a while but there's no multiplayer and graphics aren't as next-gen as Doom. Get it if you want to immerse yourself in scouring a wasteland meeting odd survivors and be caught in their strange stories on the way. Keep in mind, you may not even finish this game.
