Xbox Live Is Down Right Now [UPDATE: BACK UP AND RUNNING]

Xbox Live ran into some big problems today, but they should now be fixed.

[UPDATE] Xbox Live is back up and running normally, according to the Xbox Live Status page, though as always, your experience may differ depending on where you live and what you're trying to access.

The original story is below.

Xbox Live is facing some big issues right now. The service is facing "Social and Gaming" issues currently, which means that in-game matchmaking, cloud storage, finding friends, Game DVR, leaderboards, avatar editing, and more services are not working normally.

Additionally, while the Xbox Live Status page says Xbox Live Core Services like signing in is working normally, your mileage may vary. At GameSpot Australia, we have been unable to sign into the network for more than 30 minutes now. Looking at Twitter shows that many other people around the world are having issues logging into Xbox Live right now. The issues appear to be affecting Xbox One and Xbox 360.

A number of games are affected by this newest Xbox Live outage, including Rainbow Six Siege, Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, and Super Street Fighter IV.

We'll report back with more details on the Xbox Live issues as they come to light. If you're running into problems right now, let us know what you're facing in the comments below.

I think what we're losing track of here is that PSN and XBL gaming are both better than PC online and its world of empty servers, cheating, bad connections and having to download half a dozen "HEADSHOT!!!" mods just to play on one just to be kicked by an admin for beating them.

I wish GameSpot never let the Aussie editors take over control of the site. Now it's a biased mess with even more biased comments. Go back to having each region separate for their own news and reviews. It's impossible to get any accurate console news from these people.

Either the Xbox news is always negative, the PS4 news is always over positive, and Nintendo can do no wrong.

I guess working at Gamespot is the equivalent of working at McDonalds in Australia.

This is just a general statement not about the article. I also own a PS4 and X1X, for reference, and I can't get accurate news for either console.

@Vodoo: did you miss the half dozen articles about PSN being down last month?

@Ohaidere: I said my comment wasn't about the article, but a general theme on this site. My PSN was never down. That's another reason to have separate regions.

East US was down for what looked like about 6-7 minutes. Was signed in, downloading patches, and matchmaking, then just sat & waited for about 6-7 mins... then back to normal.

"XBLIVE is broken" was in the title!

If i am correct, there was no XBL outage or problem this year up to this point!

PSN had several problems alone this year (every 2 or 3 weeks) and no article title said PSN is broken.

Nothing has changed since i left GS.

This site should be named Double Standard

@sladakrobot: Xbox Live always has problems where have you been? Or are you one of those people that think that Xbox Live never has any issues and live in Fantasyland?

@rekt_tombraider: sure you haven't

@rekt_tombraider: I've never had a problem with PSN in 3 years, but I'd be kidding myself if I thought there had never been problems since then.

Xbox Live is always down. Most of the time there's no article on here even reporting it. No games and bad online service . There's even rumors of them changing the name from Xbox Live to Xbox Down.

@onehitta323: Hey, there he is! Trolling Xbox articles instead of playing all those games he keeps bragging about!
