Co-developers Remedy Entertainment and Slimegate Entertainment have announced that the Xbox exclusive CrossfireX has been delayed to 2021 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"After much deliberation, and in consideration of the challenges faced by the Slimegate development team due to COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of CrossfireX to 2021," the CrossfireX team wrote in a statement on Twitter. "Moving our release will allow us to deliver the Crossfire experience on console our team set out to create."

The development team said more information will come "in the future."

CrossfireX is a first-person shooter and a remake (of sorts) of the original Crossfire title. The game, which is the first time Crossfire will appear on consoles since its 2007 launch, will be comprised of two components: a single-player portion and a free-to-play multiplayer mode that's similar in style and structure to the tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The game was initially slated to launch this year for Xbox One and Xbox Series S / Series X, with Remedy Entertainment working on the single-play campaign and original Crossfire developer Slimegate Entertainment leading the free-to-play multiplayer development. An open beta for CrossfireX was available for those part of the Xbox Insiders program from June 25-28.

Normally I wouldn't care about another generic lame-ass PVP war-shooter...
But then Remedy went and developed an actual game to go on top of the multiplayer.
REMEDY... I mean, are they even capable of making something that isn't god-tier?
