It's launch week for the next-gen consoles, with Xbox Series S / Series X launching today, November 10, worldwide for $300 and $500, respectively. And Microsoft celebrated the release of its new Xbox with a drone showcase that took place in Cologne, Germany.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer made an appearance during the livestream to thank the country's community for embracing the platform and its games, like Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and Microsoft Flight Simulator. "We have built Xbox to be a place for players to enjoy the games they want on the devices they have," Spencer said. "And now, for the launch of Xbox Series X and Series S, let's celebrate together." Spencer then sends it to the drone showcase.

The show starts with 150-250 drones forming the Xbox logo in the dark of Cologne's sky against a thumping, synth-heavy soundtrack. The drones then cycle through various silhouettes, including the Xbox controller, the Series X console, and back again. Before cycling back to the Xbox logo, the drones also show off game logos for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Check out the drone showcase below.

We called the next-gen console an "impressive piece of hardware" in our Xbox Series X review, with editor Michael Higham saying, "The Series X is an extremely refined Xbox and a great piece of tech that sets a strong foundation for Microsoft to better serve its console users. If you factor in the brand's development studio acquisitions and upcoming lineup of games, the future does look bright for the Xbox platform." Our Xbox Series S review will be published soon.
