Xbox 20/20: Xbox Series X Games Stream Coming This Week

An upcoming Inside Xbox livestream will show off Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay as well.

Update 2: We now know that the Inside Xbox happening on May 7 will actually be the first in a series of Nintendo Direct-style videos from Microsoft known as Xbox 20/20. These will occur monthly for the remainder of the year, with July's event focused on first-party Xbox Series X games.

Update: Xbox general manager Aaron Greenberg provided some small details on what next week's Inside Xbox livestream will include--and it won't be any first-party content, including Halo Infinite. Greenberg said the livestream will focus on the company's third-party partners as "the Xbox Game Studios teams are hard at work on some big summer plans." More details on this will come sometime soon.

Original story below...

Xbox has announced a brand-new Inside Xbox livestream set to go live on Thursday, May 7 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 3 PM GMT that will give us a glimpse at some upcoming Xbox Series X games.

Right now, the only game confirmed to appear during next week's Inside Xbox livestream is the recently-announced Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft said it will reveal the first gameplay trailer then. Other than this, it remains unclear what other titles Xbox will show off.

You can watch next week's Inside Xbox livestream on Facebook, Mixer, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube.

There are a handful of confirmed Xbox Series X games, including Gods & Monsters, Halo Infinite, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Watch Dogs: Legion. And thanks to Xbox's Smart Delivery service, some titles launching on current-gen platforms--such as Cyberpunk 2077--will also hit Xbox Series X when the next-gen system arrives this holiday. It's unclear if any of these games will appear during the Inside Xbox livestream

This will decide whether I buy a new tiny trash can or not from Microsoft.

If they announce 5 or more exclusive titles that I can’t play on my PC, I’ll buy an Xbox Se X.

Well at this rate it looks like another nail in the coffin for Sony. I mean Come on Sony at least give us something at this point. This quietness is not looking good when your main rival is sucking all the air out of the competition.

@notafan: Talk about putting the cart a few miles ahead of the horse. They are both the better part of a year away. Then Microsoft can START their long journey just to catch up to Sony. As it stands now, they are still falling further behind with Last of us and Ghost coming out in the next couple months.

Price confirmed: I actually dreamed the console retailed for $500 and I was scouring the net to preorder it. Powerful dream.

I could give two craps for Halo, two craps for Gears, two craps for Forza. There is not a single Microsoft exclusive in its history that's been remotely interesting. Halo and Gears are games for kiddies, and Forza is a driving (yawn) game.

For there to be a real difference in terms of visuals from the PS5, I would think I would need to upgrade my 4k HDR TV to an OLED HDR TV- and that would be expensive. I would do it if it were worth it. We'll see. But none of the games mentioned are remotely interesting. But if the tech is infinitely superior, I would toss out 500 bucks to play the next GTA game on it. But it has to be a huge difference. I'm definitely buying PS5 in any case.

I just picked up a half priced LG C9. Man even GTA V looks good on it. HDR and 4k make a hell of a difference . Really happy with the TV too

@dmblum1799: Maybe upgrading to the newest models of 4k would get the full potential of the console for the HDMI 2.1 standard, BUT, you are incorrect in saying you would need to upgrade your existing set to spot the differences between PS5 and XsX especially on a 4K HDR set. Ray tracing especially, something the XsX will do better, doesn’t need 4K to be apparent. The console should also be able to push more graphical effects while maintaining a solid FPS. That said, you’re still totally justified in purchasing a PS5 and won’t regret it if you are typically a single console consumer. I would add VR to the argument as resolution has held PSVR back in terms of immersion and PS5 will definitely change the VR landscape for the better. On a whole, however, Microsoft is currently owning the power narrative and I don’t think there’s anything under the PS5 hood to make up for it from what I’ve read and there’s NOTHING for Sony or its fans to be ashamed of. It’s a beast of a machine that will be host to the very best console games. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@consolehaven: throughput might be something. the whole loading the game on the fly thing Cerny was talking about. He said the 1/2 second it takes the player to turn around the system would have loaded 5gb of data. That means close to zero data has to be loaded outside of the players view point. If this is true ps5 will require less power to work a similar work load. But all in all I'm getting both as usual. I'll get my ps5 at launch or close to it if possible and sxs a year or 2 later.

If they actually get more quality exclusives than the usual Gears of War, Halo and Forza, then cool. If they have a repeat of this last generation, which I feel is likely, this thing will once again only sell half of what the PS5 does. There’s no way Sony is going to not continue bringing the heat with amazing exclusives.

@streetshark: which is why Sony should just own the weaker power narrative NOW. Google searches for PS5 bring up more XsX news than anything else. Their console will be a beast, and if the form factor is about the same as PS4 it’ll be more attractive piece of kit to a lot of people. Finally, the IP narrative is where Sony will make headway. In the end, even if you are a Sony fan and a single console consumer, MS being assertive and making all the right moves so far is GOOD for you because it’ll push Sony to their limits in terms of developing the very best titles and squeezing the most out of their 1st party devs.

Microsoft is doing very well now, and I imagine they are keeping many games close to the vest for an unveiling.. announcing them now.. then gameplay trailers, and other announcements right up until the launch of the Series X. This has been already speculated. Can't wait to see. Anxious for the next Forza, Flight Simulator, Halo, and hopefully.. hopefully Fable!

@robertbyronz: I'm not at all into Flight Simulators, but the new Microsoft Flight Simulator does look amazing. Apparently, you can even see your own house in the game, and it has real time weather. And the whole globe will be mapped using satellite technology. You can literally explore the whole planet with that game. INCREDIBLE!!!

@Sevenizz: No way. I will never buy another console again until I know that it can run all games at a steady 60FPS.

I don't need consoles anymore. A mid-range gaming PC hooked up to a TV, and then played with an XBOXONE controller, feels just like any console, except much better because of the improved framerate. Plus there are also Steam sales. You can get triple AAA titles on Steam for $4.99 if you wait long enough. Which is what I do.

@ronaldmcreagan: A mid range PC is not going to run your games better than the X and top of that you looking at least 1000 bucks for that mid range crap. Pc's are expensive and you can't beat a 4K 60fps console for some $500 bucks. Stop trolling kid

@angrycreep: 4k 60FPS on a console? LOL! And you say I'm trolling???

Honestly, at this point, I'd be happy with just 60FPS at 1080p. Hell, I'd even take 60FPS at 720p before 30FPS at 4k. Which is exactly what I expect from the next gen consoles. And that is why I will never buy another console until I am proven wrong. Show me an entire generation of nothing but 60FPS games, and I'll gladly get back to console gaming.

@ronaldmcreagan: Either you're running a crap PC that won't do what you demand of a console, or your definition of midrange is the divide between low end and ultra high end leaving you're price point in the $1000-$1500 zone, which is notably more than a console.

@wahsobe: I paid roughly $1200 total for my PC. It has 16 gigs of RAM, i7 processor, and a 1060 graphics card. That is definitely a mid range computer. I can NOT play the new games on ultra settings at 60FPS, so I just lower the settings, and if I have to, I'll keep lowering them until I hit a steady 60FPS. 60FPS is the only way to game. Anything less is a broken game that shouldn't even be played.

@ronaldmcreagan: Looks like I was right on the money, which leaves your PC notably more expensive than a console.

This next gen of consoles and more specifically the XBSX should be capable of running 4k 60 at less than half the price of your PC. If they can't do it with raw power they should be able to do it with the baked in DirectML. If you don't know the wonder that is DirectML check out Nvidia's DLSS, it's a bit easier to find examples of and is comparable.

@wahsobe: "Looks like I was right on the money, which leaves your PC notably more expensive than a console."

On the face of things it looks that way, but console manufacturers presumably take a hit with each console (which makes it affordable for the average consumer) and make it up on the software side of things. This is exactly where PC gamers save more in the end, which is in the form of software and the extremely cheap deals that can be gotten. Then there's the free online. Over time that adds up. That isn't even mentioning the fact that PC's can do so much more than a console, more specifically in how much more control over your gaming experience you have via mods and settings.

@decadentdescent:

Maybe in the past but Live basically has you paying for random free games and entitles you to constant dashboard support. Add gamepass and you have a mega library for pennies on the dollar so then it's really only select AAA titles that you pay more for. Also you're more likely to get a used copy of a console game than a used copy of a PC game.

Most of the stuff that I used to do on my PC gets done on my phone these days. If it weren't for RTS games I probably would toss the old beast and just get a micro PC. May even do that if they finally make a reasonably priced mini Ryzen cube with a little umph. To be fair it's Supreme Commander: FA and it's single threaded BS that's kept me from chucking that oversized eyesore. If the amazing did happen and the rumor of the XBSX supporting Steam games along with Keyboard and Mouse was true, I really wouldn't look back.

With the new console hardware cycles I just upgrade every few years with great trade ins and or good resale prices. If Microsoft keeps their performance builds coming and prices reliable I'll always be spending less than half the PC prices for the equivalent performance, halved again by easily selling the old system. Please don't tell me it's just as easy to sell old PC parts because logistically that isn't true. For one, you sell 'A' console but most of the time you sell multiple PC parts and potential buyers have to want exactly what you're selling.

In the end I think in this day and age with this quality of consoles and mobile phones the need for a PC is only of real benefit to a rapidly decreasing group of people. I'm not saying they aren't nice to have but they aren't the necessity they once were. This is coming from a guy who for many years made his living on the PC.

I will concede: Yes it does still feel better to look up porn on a PC than a console or phone.

@ronaldmcreagan: Why do you think a mid range PC will run at a stable rate, when a mid range PC has an inferior CPU and GPU?

You'll have to spend a hell of a lot more than you pay for an Xsx or ps5 to get a PC that matches that performance....just start with the GPU.

@sealionact: Well, for starters, with a PC, you can always go into the options and tinker around with the settings until you hit 60FPS. Can't do that with consoles, so usually you're stuck playing at 30FPS. Although there are some exceptions. For example; DOOM 2016 ran beautifully on my PS4.

@ronaldmcreagan: I see you spent around double what a next gen console will cost, and yes you can adjust textures and resolutions to hit 60fps, but by then the picture quality will be much, much lower than xsx or ps5 which will be hitting 60fps anyway.

To each their own, but paying double to play games at lower settings isnt the way I would go.

Yes, yes, yes, MS is killing it so far.....stay tuned Sony to reveal PS5 startup screen next week :(

I have never been more eager to see the new games & I hope 3rd party games get me super rev'd for next gen. And FFS please don't show us post-production trailers, we wanna see the actual XBsX game play.

PS has Spiderman, Predator, EDF new series, Gundam, daemon x machina?, & MASS Builder that I want to play on my XB...we are losing 3rd party left & right now and MS needs to do something about this....they need to flash those carrots so they can get ported over and to have our own Spidy & Pred.
