The World War I FPS games Verdun and Tannenberg released today, June 15, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and you don't have to pay a penny to try them. Both titles are releasing into a free weekend that runs on PlayStation, Xbox One, and PC June 17-20.

The full versions of Verdun and Tannenberg are available during the free weekend, and when the promo period ends, players can pick up the games for 60% off if they want. You can check out an announcement video for the free weekend below.

What's more, people who already own Verdun and Tannenberg on PS4 and Xbox One will get a free upgrade to the next-gen edition. The free upgrade doesn't apply to Japan due to "legal reasons," but players can upgrade for a nominal fee of 100 Yen/$1 USD.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions of Verdun and Tannenberg have higher resolutions, anti-aliasing, better shadow and texture quality, and improved visual effects. Players can also look forward to 120Hz support.

The next game in M2H and Blackmill Games' WWI series is Isonzo, which is slated for release this year on console and PC. It's set in the mountains of northern Italy.

"The Italian Front was the perfect opportunity for us to elevate the WW1 Game Series, both figuratively and literally," M2H co-founder Matt Hergaarden said. "Alpine warfare in Isonzo brings lots of fresh game mechanics to the series, along with the all new Italian army, facing off against Austria-Hungary."
