WWE Wrestlemania 34 Results: Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal Highlights
Dolph Ziggler & co. will try to make Andre proud.
A mainstay of Wrestlemania each year is the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and 2018 was no different. We knew that Wrestlemania 34 will be home to one of these battle royal matches, and while it may not be a headlining aspect of the PPV, it had the potential to serve as the push for one of its competitors.
The full lineup of superstars set to be included in the event was not confirmed in advance, but recent editions of Raw and Smackdown provided us with some of the names. Zack Ryder, Primo Colon, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Tye Dillinger, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango were among those competing to come out on top. Dillinger was our early pick for the match's winner; although he hasn't been featured heavily as of late, he's a talented guy who could use a win here to kick off a new push.
Here's what happened during the Kickoff Show match. There are no entrances and no buildup. The match just starts, suddenly, with all the participants already in the ring. Here are some highlights: Aiden English and Curt Hawkins are two of the first eliminated participants, and they kiss the floor hard. Goldust is wearing polka dots on his costume as a subtle tribute to his father, the late Dusty Rhodes. Dolph Ziggler is nearly eliminated several times. Mojo Rawley does a nasty should block to eliminate Zack Ryder. Camera cuts occasionally to John Cena who, as promised, is sitting in the stands as a fan. Goldust performs Shattered Dreams on Tye Dillinger before being eliminated by Ziggler. The final three participants are Matt Hardy, Rawley, and Baron Corbin. Suddenly, the lights go out. It's Bray Wyatt, here to help Matt Hardy! They team up to take out Rawley and Corbin. Hardy is declared the winner of the 2018 Andre the Giant Battle Royal, and he and Wyatt pose together in the ring.
It started off really sloppy and uncoordinated. But the Battle Royal had an excellent finish, and it improved the Broken Universe narrative going forward. It's good to see Wyatt back in action, hopefully this time with a gimmick he can have more success with. This was an entertaining match, at least for the last five minutes. And that's all anyone will remember.
