As of late, Zayn (real name Rami Sebei) has been one of the more outspoken members of the WWE roster, discussing stay at home orders and social distancing on Twitter.
No specific reason was given for Zayn's title's vacancy, but it more than likely could be his choice to remain home during the time of the global coronavirus pandemic, which has already put a lot of stars on temporary shelves. The pandemic has forced a lot of booking choices in WWE including at this year where Reigns was replaced last minute by Brawn Strowman in the Universal Championship match.
Zayn has not fully commented on the decision, but he left a brief tweet saying "Hope everyone is doing okay." The participants for the tournament have not yet been revealed.
