WWE Backlash: Match Card, How To Watch, Predictions, And Start Time For The 2020 PPV

On Sunday, another WWE PPV is headed your way. Backlash will feature a variety of matches, including John Morrison teaming with the Miz to take on Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship. However, don't expect cinematic matches, like the Boneyard or Firefly Fun House matches from Wrestlemania 36, as it seems WWE is doing more traditional in-ring action.

Coming to the WWE Network on June 14, from the Performance Center, Backlash will consist of seven matches--as of this writing--five of which will be title bouts. One of the most interesting matches is Braun Strowman defending his Universal Championship against The Miz and John Morrison in a handicap match. The downfall for the duo may be deciding who gets to pin Strowman for the title, if that moment arises. Then again, this is a handicap match, so perhaps if one of them wins they will share the WWE Championship.

Start time:

Depending on where you live in the world, Backlash will air either in the evening, early in the morning, or during the middle of the night. Check out the start times below for various time zones.

• 6 PM CT
• 7 PM PT
• 12 AM BST (June 15)
• 9 AM AEST (June 15)

Per usual, there will be a Kickoff Show streaming on the WWE Network and on WWE's YouTube starting one hour prior. More than likely, there will be one match on the preshow.

How to watch:

You can watch Backlash through your cable or satellite. However, many wrestling fans choose to watch PPVs through the streaming service the WWE Network. Sadly, it doesn't look like WWE offers one month for free for new users anymore, so you'll have to pay $10 a month to watch it. However, $10 compared to cable prices--which are between triple and quadruple the price--isn't a bad deal.

Predictions:

Edge vs. Randy Orton

Billed as the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever"--and there is a lot to unpack with that branding--Edge will face Orton in a wrestling match. Sure, the two had a Last Man Standing bout at Wrestlemania 36, but the Backlash fight will be more about in-ring skills rather than what weapon one of the men can use from the Performance Center. And that's what we have to take into account. Orton has been a competitor in-ring for years, while Edge was retired for nearly a decade and only recently made his return.. That makes me wonder if he'll have some ring-rust. Regardless, I have a good feeling that Edge will end up winning, and it won't be the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever."

Women's Tag Team Championship

Remember the Women's Tag Team titles? Luckily, WWE has been putting a bit more emphasis on the championship as of late. Sadly, the former tag champs Asuka and Kairi Sane aren't involved--Asuka is the Raw Women's Champ and Sane was recently injured. However, the rest of the tag teams involved in this bout are fantastic. While triple threat tag matches are a bit too chaotic for my liking--unless it's tornado rules--this is a great lineup of wrestlers and because Bayley & Banks are new titleholders, I'm giving the win to them because having the titles bounce around doesn't make a lot of sense.
