Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions

Activision officially announced at Microsoft's X01 European event that it has secured the worldwide publishing rights, excluding Japan, for Bushanka Publishing's Double S.T.E.A.L. for the Microsoft Xbox. The game's title will be changed to Wreckless for the North American and European releases, which are currently set for spring 2002. In Wreckless, players take part in a variety of story-driven missions to bring down the Mafia in Hong Kong. During these missions, players can choose from 10 vehicles and drive through traffic-filled streets, tear through parks, and drive on sidewalks to complete their mission.

"We are thrilled that Microsoft has selected Wreckless as a lead game for the first quarter of 2002 and that the game will be among the first wave of titles for the Xbox European launch," said Larry Goldberg, executive vice president of Activision Worldwide Studios. "Wreckless takes advantage of the sophisticated graphics, audio, and multiplayer capabilities available from the Xbox and will deliver an incredible new experience for fans of mission-based driving games. The game lets players explore the mean streets of Hong Kong as they engage in nonstop full-throttle action."

GameSpot will have more on Wreckless in the coming weeks.
