SCEE releases the first information on the next PS2 game in its World Rally Championship series.

Comments

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today released the first information on WRC 3 for the PlayStation 2. The game, which is currently in development at UK-based Evolution Studios, is the only officially licensed game of the FIA World Rally Championship for a current-generation console.

As the official game of the 2003 World Rally Championship, WRC 3 will feature all of the official cars, drivers, rallies, liveries, sponsors, countries, and stages of the 2003 rally season--including the all-new WRC event in Turkey. The game promises to improve upon its predecessor in a number of ways, not the least of which is the introduction of shrapnel particle emitters that will allow pieces of bodywork and glass to fly off cars as a result of collisions. Other improvements mentioned in today's press release include working in-car instrumentation, more realistic car handling, more detailed locales, and more intelligent CPU drivers.

WRC 3 will feature multiplayer support for up to four drivers and is currently scheduled for release in Europe in November. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
