WonderSwan's Network-Compatible Titles

With the Wonder Gate for the WonderSwan coming out in May, some upcoming titles are being built with online features.

Bandai will be releasing an add-on peripheral for the WonderSwan called the Mobile Wonder Gate, which will allow network capabilities for the handheld system. Some of the upcoming WonderSwan titles will have features that will make use of the Mobile Wonder Gate, making the WonderSwan the first handheld system to have network capabilities in Japan.

Capcom's Pocket Fighter for the WonderSwan will feature Internet ranking from players all over Japan and downloadable character cards to be used in an original mode of the game. Pocket Fighter for the WonderSwan is expected to be on Japanese store shelves April 6 for a price of 3800yen (about US$36). Namco's Final Lap 2000 for the WonderSwan will let users download new original courses and even play your own edited course with another player over the network. Final Lap 2000 for the WonderSwan is expected to be on Japanese store shelves March 23 for a price of 3800yen (about $36). Square is also reportedly working on some titles for the WonderSwan that will make use of the network capabilities.

The Mobile Wonder Gate is expected to be released this May in Japan. A North American release of the WonderSwan has not yet been officially announced.
