CD Projekt Red, the beloved Polish studio behind The Witcher, Gwent, and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, appears to be attending E3 2018 in some capacity. The E3 website was updated with a slide that lists off "Participating Companies," and among them is CD Projekt Red. Konami, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Square Enix, and Take-Two are also on the list, among others.

CD Projekt Red attending one of the year's biggest gaming events is not a surprise. The studio has been there in past years, to promote titles--such as Gwent at E3 2016--speak to journalists, and hold business meetings. The studio has not made any announcements as of yet regarding what it might have in store for E3 2018, but needless to say, we are excited about the prospect of some news or footage of Cyberpunk 2077.

We have contacted CD Projekt Red to ask about the company's inclusion in the "Participating Companies" slide. We'll report back with anything we learn. E3 2018 runs June 12-14 in Los Anegeles.

In January, the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account came alive for the first time in four years, leading some to believe that news about the much-anticipated game might be coming soon. The game was initially announced in 2012, with a teaser trailer debuting the next year. This is all to say, it's been a long wait for any news or update on the game's development.

In addition to Cyberpunk 2077 and the continued support of Gwent, CD Projekt Red plans to release another AAA RPG in the 2017-2021 window. If you thought CD Projekt Red was tight-lipped about Cyberpunk 2077, the studio has said absolutely nothing about this other game.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has said it will offer a nonlinear story designed for "mature" players and is set in the metropolis of Night City. It will also have sandbox elements and some form of multiplayer, though CD Projekt Red said the game is a "true RPG," and definitely not a multiplayer shooter.

Although platforms for Cyberpunk 2077 have not yet been announced, the studio has said it will "probably" come to Xbox One, PS4, and PC. While you wait for news about Cyberpunk 2077, you can check out GameSpot's new feature, "Why Cyberpunk 2077 Is So Important To The Genre And Modern Society."

I’m more interested in the other AAA game that may come out in the 2017-2021 window. What if the game is already released? That would be an amazing achievement!

The hype for this game doesn't seem to match the information available on it. Yes, yes, I know, it's CD Projekt Red and they have a great track record, there just seems to be an imbalance here.

@Brakkyn: I think part of it may be that CDPR genuinely seems to want to serve the gamer rather than exploit them. There are some other companies that have good PR, but it feels like CDPR has set the standard in customer care. Of course they need to keep the lights on, but they put a lot of emphasis on quality of life for their customers and that naturally translates to sales.

@lionheartssj1: You can't exploit a gamer if they have the option to buy MT, Loot boxes etc. I don't know why people don't seem to realize the gamer is taking this business in this direction.

@j15reed: You're right. If nobody bought these things, they wouldn't exist. However, these companies can still seek to exploit the player by design practices that incentivize MT, loot boxes, etc. They wouldn't even spend the resources to implement such a system if they weren't in some way altering the fabric of the experience to incentivize micro-transaction purchases. That, in my opinion, is seeking to exploit them. There's a litany of resources that delve in depth into the psychological topics of impulse control and other things that casinos use to incentivize and otherwise manipulate the player. Some, if not most, of those practices apply here as well.

I expect them to re-show the only clip we've seen with the android girl again. Then another "Coming out......when it's ready"

Prepare to be severely disappointed.

@ccgod: In what fucking universe could it be considered a "scam"? Have they taken a single dollar for it from gamers? No. Do they have a rock solid history with Witcher 3 etc? Yes.

Don't be an invalid.

@lukasr: Naw no way AAA game can take that long to make. History of making good games or even a movie doesn't mean anything.

@ccgod: except most of the elder scrolls games and fallout games, final fantasy 12, LA noire, star craft II, Dragon age Origins, resident evil, TF2, Spore, Too Human, Diablo 3, Duke nukem forever, etc. half of those games took 10+ years. new tech = longer dev time. not talking about Cawadooty 1, 2, 3, 4, bwack cocks, bwack cocks II.

@connorman01: go spread that on the star citizen pages lol just showing how crazy people are thinking games can't take a long time to develop

You just know that whatever they have planned in the way of their new project will be very brief but generate a huge amount of excitement for this year and into the next. Considering this is the developer that rose to prominence thanks to one of the most critically acclaimed games in the last few years (Hmmm... can't remember what it's called ;) ) I think it's fair to say that whatever details are revealed will hit the gaming media like a tidal wave.

With that being said CD Projekt red has quite the work cut out for them in terms of meeting the expectations now placed upon them thanks to that aforementioned videogame (-I swear, it's on the tip of my tongue...-). There are only a few other big name studios that could possibly shoulder the burden of such sweeping expectations (Naughty Dog, Kojima productions, rock star, etc...) but y'know what? CD projekt red has shown us all they are more than capable of delivering.

-HARD ACT TO FOLLOW, BUT... NINJA APPROVED-

@videogameninja: I love how they don't rush their games. also the tweet "we leave greed to other companies" has got me going.

I'm just hoping we get to create our character this time. That was always one thing that I missed with the Witcher games, I like being able to make and play as my own character.

@phoenix1289: Are you serious right now. Witcher and character creation?!?!?!.

Avatar image for phoenix1289

@dostunuz: Well this isn't Witcher this is Cyberpunk 2077. And yes while playing Witcher I missed being able to create a character. I get why they made the decision to have a set character and I don't hold it against them but regardless I get more enjoyment out of being able to create my own character than playing a pre-set one when it comes to RPGs.

Avatar image for connorman01

@phoenix1289: yeah there was no way you were gonna get to create your own character in witcher. like 7 books with a very specifically described geralt, ciri, and all the other characters.

Oh man, why y'all gotta go do that? We see news like this, and our eyes get wide like we have an 11 and dealer's showing a six. But we always end up busting.

Of course, I also made "Maybe we'll see.....THE LAST GUARDIAN!" jokes before E3 all the time, and then one day we actually saw it.

So maybe I'll get a little excited over this.

Imagine if it's just to announce GWENT is going out of beta lol. More interestingly though I wonder what Konami is going to be doing there? Can't just be PES hopefully an MGS remake in the fox engine.
