The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's in-game card game, Gwent, is getting a standalone version, it looks like. NerdLeaks discovered a European Union Intellectual Property Office trademark filing for something called Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.

The filing also contained the image below, which could be the game's logo.

No platforms for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game were mentioned in the filing. However, during PAX East in April 2016, developers strongly suggested the game could come to mobile devices.

A developer asked the audience to sound off on whether or not this was something they would want, recording a video of the audience's overwhelmingly positive and rousing response. The video was then taken back to CD Projekt Red's office in Poland to show to the team to possibly inspire them to bring Gwent to mobile devices. It appears it worked.

It is possible this is the game that CD Projekt Red boss Marcin Iwinski alluded to in a recent interview, where he also suggested the project could be announced at E3.

CD Projekt said previously that it would announce or possibly launch a new game in 2016. Interestingly, this would be a "new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio." A standalone version of Gwent for mobile devices would fit that description.

The developer's latest game is The Witcher 3, which recently received its final expansion, Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red is also working on Cyberpunk 2077, but the developer is not going to show more of this game at E3 2016 because there is too much work still to do.

In other news related to CD Projekt Red, the developer's GOG online store today kicked off its annual Summer Sale. You can learn more about it here.
