The fact that The Witcher 3 has been rated for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S suggests that its release might not be too far off. This is good news for fans hoping to play the new version this year, as developer CD Projekt Red admitted that the game could slip to 2022.

The Witcher 3's new-gen edition is developed by Saber Interactive. The game will take advantage of the increased horsepower of those systems to make the game look and run better. It also comes with all previously released expansions, as well as new content inspired by Netflix's popular Witcher TV show.

Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S edition is also on track for release in 2021, though CD Projekt Red acknowledged that it might move to 2022. Whatever the case, both games will be free for people who already purchased Cyberpunk 2077 or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

What we do know for certain is that Season 2 of Netflix's popular The Witcher series will debut on December 17, so no matter what happens, Witcher fans are getting something new this year.
