The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red said that developing for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC allows it to “go nuts in terms of visuals.”

"I think we are in a good moment, we don't have to choose between better graphics or performance on either PC or consoles now,” CD Projekt Red’s global head of marketing Tomasz Jarzębowski told The Sydney Morning Herald. “We can just create the best looking game possible."

Jarzębowski also said that only the future will tell if The Witcher 3 is maxing out the console’s technical capabilities, noting that games released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 continue to look better even after all these years. “We are always getting wiser and wiser, so I expect our next game will look even better,” he said.

CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski previously said that The Witcher 3 is “fairly close” to maxing out the power of the Xbox One and PS4.

The Witcher 3 was expected to launch this fall, but CD Projekt Red delayed it to February 2015 so the team could achieve a level of quality that will set it apart from other role-playing games. For more on The Witcher 3, be sure to read our recent in-depth preview of the game.

i haven't really played any of the witcher games but i honestly cannot wait for this.

Avatar image for Soundaholic92

I don't really mind the delay since my current computer can barely play Witcher 2 at minimum settings and I won't be able to afford any upgrades so soon

Avatar image for Gankstar_VX84

basically what they're saying is the technology behind the next gen consoles allows them to get away with making the pc version a lazy port. I love rpgs but the witcher 2 just didn't do it for me so i'll skip this.

Avatar image for Morfessa

@Gankstar_VX84 "current gen" ... not "next gen"

Avatar image for malachi_27

@Gankstar_VX84 Ah, man, that blows. I love the Witcher 2 to death. You should definitely try revisiting it someday.

Avatar image for athonjohn

@Gankstar_VX84 You're wrong. And not just a little bit wrong, but sooo wrong.

Avatar image for sofatayra

I honestly can not wait .

What are you going to do then?

Avatar image for vadagar1

Avatar image for ruzkiechilavek

@eva02langley omg i just bought a bugatti veyron for 2 mil bro..... and its way faster then your POS.... this is what you sound like..... leme give you a budget of 400 no make it 500 (xbox one lol) and u build me a pc thatll be better graphics then PS4 running witcher 3....

Avatar image for kipsta77

I'll bet that it's capped at 30fps on consoles.

Avatar image for TheGreatPhoenix

Like I care about visuals. Ask the dead or alive guys for better boob physics and your good

Avatar image for deactivated-58b0b257815cf

Just give the PC version plenty of love, CD Projekt.

Avatar image for KelboDelta

april's fools... I don't believe anything I read today.

Avatar image for ThatAngryMan

@KelboDelta They would only shove their feet up their ass if this is a joke,

Avatar image for Mariner32

Man, my PC only runs Witcher 2 marginally decently so I think I'll have to get 3 for PS4 until I can upgrade my rig.

Avatar image for Mfman14

@Mariner32 But what about carrying over your choices from 2?

Avatar image for naydub

@Mfman14 @Mariner32 CDPR is going to have a website that will allow you to shape the world on the consoles. I'm fairly sure the PC version is good to go with carry over.

Avatar image for NetGod

I see they included the XB1 in that list. God forbid the XB1 might actually look as good as the PS4.

I guess the fannyboys will throw their little sh*t fits now.

(((Sits down with popcorn to watch the infantile tantrums.)))

Avatar image for arrowhead927

@NetGod They will look similiar/Same

Give it a rest PS4 fanboy, theres more to a console then just resolution, which all PS4 fans seem to be obsessed with. Soon there will be no different between the 2 visually, so all this trolling will stop and players will get back to actually playing games instead of arguing like little girls.

Avatar image for seth_rogaine

@arrowhead927 @NetGod Umm..Netgod is an XB1 fanboy. I suggest you read his post more precisely.

Avatar image for Rakou

@arrowhead927 @NetGod Well, have there been any lengthy gameplay footage from Witcher 3 yet? Have they even said that the PS4 version = X1 version (in terms of graphics)? I don't give a **** which console showcases better graphics, because when I see crappy graphics, it reminds me of my childhood and gives me a fuzzy feeling on the inside and makes me feel like a little girl.

Which is why I bought the Xbox 1.

Avatar image for semsemwolf

it will be great on ps4

Avatar image for daviz88

great, now can we see some gameplay footage

Avatar image for Morfessa

@daviz88 yeah!

Avatar image for dlaney34

CD Projekt Red: is my favorite developer, see, they do this thing where they make games for gamers, rather then shareholders. Imagine that.

Avatar image for bannermanner

CD Projekt Red: being awesome enough to compensate for everyone else.

Avatar image for Bellum_Sacrum

At least they're sincere about the fact that the Witcher series is now all about graphics.

Avatar image for Mfman14

@Bellum_Sacrum It's not all about graphics but it sure looks fantastic

Avatar image for anshanlord

YEAH! I'm so excited for this game.....Probably because of Emhyr and Ciri:D:D:D

Avatar image for Halloll

how about going nuts with controls instead, after they said they based W2 controls on Demon's Souls I got it and was disappointed by how clunky it felt in comparison.

Avatar image for jecomans

@Halloll Horrible controls they were. It played like the poor bastard controls of Souls and Arkham games. They have said, though, that improving the combat and controls is something they were focusing on.

Avatar image for SexyMiralda

When it comes to graphics, my trust on the game developers is bit shaken after the huge graphics downgrade fiasco by the FROM SOFTWARE with Dark Souls 2 game. Pathetic really!!!

Avatar image for Tahir_Ahmad

Maybe they should stop praising those consoles and focus on completing the game itself, this will help them finish it faster.

Avatar image for jakesnakeel

@Tahir_Ahmad yeah, their head of Marketing needs to get back to coding the game.

Avatar image for bannermanner

Because logic!

Avatar image for badlalo59

Such a long time till February though :/

Avatar image for wearelegion5000

Going nuts with 30 fps/720p?

Way to go, "next-gen"

Avatar image for EmericaCky2K

I'd bet It'll run at 1080p on both consoles. 30 fps is probably accurate though.

Avatar image for hwrdstrnsbals

Witcher 2 was a huge disappointment. Linear game world...with non-linear story? really? It was good for the first few hours but the last half of the game dragged on and the story was just rubbish.

These games where i get to choose (this is just an illusion for stupid people to think they are in control) the plotline are horrible. Have you ever read a good book or watched a spectacular movie where you got to choose where the story went? thats because story writing is a craft better left to those who know what they are doing.

The Withcer 2 had the most anti-climactic ending (no matter which one you "chose") of any RPG I've ever played, and it has tainted my interest in this franchise. It's not like there was much else to keep me interested. The gameplay was lackluster with its clunky combat, linear game world, and lack of overall content or diversity.

I hope this mediocre franchise can turn this around, this is a great IP that could be something special if handled more appropriately - mainly by having the balls to write their own, complete story, and introducing that into an open world with more proven RPG features. You don't always have to reinvent the wheel to make a car go faster, look nicer, and ride smoother.

Avatar image for jecomans

@hwrdstrnsbals Whilst I disagree with you about the story and world, I agree with you on the gameplay. Even CDPR know the combat wasn't up to par. They've said they'll be making it good this time, and I hope they are because I don't think I could be bothered playing it other wise.

Avatar image for baldy40

@hwrdstrnsbals You make a Witcher game then?

Avatar image for Rakou

@hwrdstrnsbals Your opinion. But what games of last gen had better storylines? Also, I found that having the combat difficulty on normal allowed me to just dodge+slash all the time. Tuning it to Hard forced me to prepare for fights, like using Alchemy and planting traps and such.

Avatar image for deactivated-58b0b257815cf

Cool. Story. Bro. You can scuttle on back to the BSN now.

Avatar image for EmericaCky2K

The Witcher 2 was one of my favorite games of last generation. I would have to disagree with you completely, sir.

Avatar image for dlaney34

@hwrdstrnsbals Most would disagree w/ you on your opinions. I certainly do.

Avatar image for mikees1

Not this generation they didn't! I know VR dates back to the 90's. I'm referring to Sony releasing images of their vr machine then Microsoft more or less coming out saying "don't forget us, were doing VR too" when the facts are they probably were not and don't even have a prototype until Sony showed there's.

And don't call me kid, I'm probably older, wiser and much more experienced in life than you are.

Avatar image for logangta5

@mikees1 And guess what? no one cares.

Avatar image for theKSMM

I'm just glad to see that a small developer like CD Projekt Red can find success, even competing with big boys like Bethesda. I surely thought they were doomed from the outset when they misspelled their company name and nobody even bothered to spell-check it.
