On Wednesday during a Windows 10 event, Microsoft's Phil Spencer revealed that the newest PC operating system will support Xbox One game streaming later this year.

"Wouldn't it be great if we could play those [Xbox One games] anywhere in the house?" Spencer said.

Windows 10 will allow game streaming to Windows 10 PCs and tablets. Right now, it doesn't look like the streaming functionality will work on Windows Phones, though that feature may come later.

Once you sync up your Xbox One with another device, such as a Surface Pro 3, you'll be able to stream games, even console-exclusive titles like Forza Horizon 2.

"We have to put the gamer at the center of every experience," Spencer said as he wrapped up his presentation. He added that Microsoft will talk more about it Xbox One-to-PC game-streaming service later this year during the Game Developers Conference in March.

damn I was hoping that PC gets a Playstation Now like service on PC. I would love to play the few interessting xOne exclusives on my PC, even if it is just a stream

If I don't have to upgrade my computer I don't need a XBOX ONE. So is this how PC is going to play FABLE LEGENDS and other XBOX exclusive through this online streaming service? MAKES SENSE...

Don't mind it beeing there but it's useless for me. Why would I want to sit in my office chair at my desk to play my xbox one games? The comfort of the living room with your surround sound, big screen etc for casual/consolised games is the only advantage of the console in the first place compared to my rig, so playing at compressed reduced quality in a more uncomfortable location is not an alternative for me.

"Yes but what if your wife wants to use the tv to watch her crappy shows and you want to play at the same time?"

Well our tv entertainment in the livingroom is handled through the x1 and I assume it can't do both at the same time so I'm screwed either way if I didn't have another tv for her to watch tv unless I unplugg and rewire everything, which again makes the streaming capability useless for me. Streaming directly to another tv like the bedroom tv for some late night lazy gaming in bed would be better than only windows 10 devices. Like an xbox app for your smart tv. I don't have a windows tablet nor a laptop to do this and won't buy any for this feature.

Now if the opposite, streaming from pc to x1 could be done properly it is way more interesting to me. Especially if you could use steam the same way as on pc. But in that case any game also released on pc would be irrelevant for the x1 as I'd buy all of those on pc rather than xbox.

<< LINK REMOVED >> No one knows for sure, but the TV tuner which is available outside of the US allows people to watch TV on a tablet (via Smartglass) while someone else plays a game on the TV.

Doesn't seem like a stretch to do the same thing in reverse, like you want.

Hope they can do something like the Wii U in which you can play coop with separated monitors, that be cool.

But what about PCers who don't really care about the X1?

Avatar image for diablohitman

<< LINK REMOVED >> then its not really for you YET at the moment exclusive PC gamers only benefit A. if they have friends on console cuz now they can cross play or B. the xbox app allows you to record game clips on PC games much like xbox one does yes you can always record without it but this is unexpected things and sharing

The cool thing is still being worked on phil said which is PC games streaming though xbox all the power of your PC but comfort of your living room it wont appeal to everyone like it might now appeal to you but others are excited for it

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I have connected my PC with my LED TV via HDMI. I already have the comfort of the living room sofa without a shitty middleman -> xbone.

So I still do not understand what this streaming sillyness is about. Or probably I'm getting too old.

So PC gets gaming features and to use those features I'll need to buy Xbox One. And on top of that if I buy Xbox One those so called gaming features will become pointless for PC...lol

So will this be the end of Xbox one ? what's the point of having xbox one when you can just stream its exclusive titles on PC. or is it like ps4-vita thing ?

I dont see how this feature benefits Pc gamers in the least bit, seriously. I keep hearing this is great but not even Ms gave one reason this would be useful for Pc gamers. All I hear is people saying this is great because now if someone is using my TV I can now play xbox 1 game on my computer. Ok fine. I don't even find this useful as I would rather play the game natively on the console. Xbox1 already has inferior graphics and resolutions than a pc. Now put that on a encoded video and it will probably look even worse. but to each its own. All im saying is that all this does is give console gamers who already bought an xbox one another option to play their games. this does not Nothing for pc gamers.

So im a pc gamer but I dont have an xbox 1. I cant use this feature. So I go out and buy an xbox 1 with the game to use this feature. Wait? Might as well just use the damn console and play the game on it. Now im a console gamer.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Well, it was useful for me in PS4. Being able to play DA Inquisition in the vita while I was on holiday was useful (Althoguh I had a bit of lag, doubt it would work decently for a shooter)

This technology may give an advantage of the Xbone One.

Two objections:

1 - since all the ms exclusives are released to pc, why do I need to stream these games on my pc? Looks redundant.

2 - if it will come to pc the stream wont get any benefits from my pc hardware which means: redundant.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Not all exclusives are released to PC.

I think the point of this is to be able to play your XBox game up in your room while other people use the TV for some other purpose... like watching TV.

If they add mouse&keyboard support for their games then that actually is big. If not then this isn't helping since I still have to play with a gamepad so why bother streaming it to my PC.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I use a mouse and keyboard all day at work but still prefer to use a controller for games, I know pointing and clicking a mouse is easier, but it just feels gross, type to move, no vibration feedback... So primitive. I think a controller encompasses the wider variety of games, from shooting to driving, whereas kbm is just convenient for RPGs and point and click shooting in fps games, which feels cheap to me, even though I still beat kbm players with a controller. It does take a lot more skill to use analog sticks on a controller, but the design of a controller and ergonomics of a game specific single unit is far superior than typing and swiping on a flat surface like every secretary in the world does.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Actually, a joystick is more primitive.. i can understand what your saying about vibration but the joystick, holding it down until it moves to where you want, so bad accuracy to the point that the game has to assist your aiming? thats primitive. in truth, the mouse/keyboard supports a far greater array of customization, you can talk OR text ingame. also take game UI for example, you can really see how dumbed-down the UI is to PC games.

I would be more interested if that connection goes the other way. I would like too enjoy games from my high power PC on the big screen in the living room. Or If they showed mouse and keyboard support while streeming from the X1. This feature feels a little backwards at the moment who wants to stream from their less powerful console to their potentially smaller monitor.

As a PC gamer all I wanted to see from Microsoft was more of their first party Xbox 1 exclusives (halo/gears)coming to PC. I would accept reasonable ports with unlocked frame rates and 1440p . Probably never going to happen because it would cut into there hardware market share.
