Wii U Aussie midnight launch details

Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U, may already be on sale in the United States, but Australian gamers will need to wait until the early hours of November 30 to be able to buy their own.

Retailer EB Games will be opening several of its stores on the night of November 29 in preparation for the console’s launch at midnight. Additional EB stores will also be open from 8 a.m. local time on release day for those who wish to pick up their pre-order early. See below for the full list of participating stores.

Other local stores opening at midnight include K-Mart and JB Hi-Fi. Additional details can be found below - be sure to confirm opening hours with your local store.

The Wii U will be available in two different models: a basic pack, with an 8GB console, a Wii U GamePad, an AC adapter, an HDMI cable, and a sensor bar; and the Wii U premium pack, with all of the items in the basic set plus additional system memory (32GB in total), a stand for the console and GamePad, a charging cradle for the GamePad, and a copy of Nintendo Land.

The 8GB basic model will be available in white, and will cost A$349.95, while the 32GB premium model and peripherals are built in a black shell. The premium kit will retail for A$429.95.

Nintendo has also confirmed the launch software for its new console in Australia, which includes titles New Super Mario Bros U, ZombiU, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
