Wii browser gets full version

haha it's about to be paid

Well as I have my Wii hooked up through my PC tv tuner, I realy don't need a web browser, since all I have to do is minimize the TV tuner and browse the net, however I did get it for two reasons: One: Its a novlety Two: FREE!! If I did not have my Wii or was going to get the browser after the 30th, I would not ever pay 5 bucks or ever a penny for this thing, however as it was free, I do have to admit it is interesting, though Opera?? a better browser would be much needed.

DJ_Lae $5 for a web browser? Sorry, that's just lame. Its not that bad, what else will let you surf the net from your couch. (and don't say a PC hooked into a HDTV-that is like $3K)

Blizzard needs to get with Nintendo and make a World of Warcraft for the Wii. The controls are just right and it doesn't require a lot of power for graphics.

Good news, I guess... It'd be a lot better if I could find a Wii for sale anywhere but eBay. I think I'll be lucky to find one before you have to start paying for this browser that I probably wouldn't use anyway...

What about adding a video playing function to it then i think it would be complete.

I like the new browser though most stuff could have been added an improved but other than that its pretty cool.

Well, I got it recently. Not the greatest piece ever, but good to screw around with every once in a while. And yeah, at least YouTube works.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series streamed through YouTube on my TV makes me forget that it takes forever for the Shop Channel to start up on my Wii. And The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Captain N: The Game Master help, too.

I wonder if they have that voice thing.

Wow, the Wii browser was as fast as Firefox on my PC, how can it get any faster? Well it's probably more stable, darn that beta and its frequent crashing.

I wonder how fast is this Wii browser in rendering a web page ? I got NDS browser and, so far, I could say I kind of disappointed. It's slow, painfully slow.

I just connected my Wii to the internet half an hour ago. Thought I should try to write a comment on Opera, it works really well.

Still there's no backspace key assigned to a button. You have to point at it in the on-screen keyboard :S

the best web browser for a console are a hand held ever. Flash doesnt display very well and some youtube videos cant be played because of it. but i knew that it wasn't going to be flawless but good

yea looking at innapropite content is the only real way id ever see myself using this if i had a wii, besides once or twice just for the novelty of interneting on my wii

You miss the point, subrosian, that KSMM was trying to make. Its not about using the console as a replacement for your PC in any way...its about the convenience of having a browser handy to just check something out "on the fly". When I first got my Wii, I didnt think Id have use for the browser since my PC is nearly brand new and blows-past any capabilities a console could have. But, there's a real use to being able to sit on my couch and check the news, weather, or the latest happenings on G4, GameSpot, or my Yahoo Mail all by remote. If I want to actually do anything of substance, yeah Im going to fire-up the PC. But if Im just hanging-out, the Wii browser does the job. This final build, btw, rocks in comparison to the beta!! And, as this article says...I was awaken by the blue light of my system flashing at me in the middle of the night. It was almost a little unsettling because its the first time Ive seen it do that...I didnt think it would be so bright. (Ive reset it to Dim Mode now). Kudos, Nintendo...you continue to impress me with this generation!!

Non-issue. I've used the Wii browser - not having a keyboard, combined with the low resolution (480p) just make for some pretty poor browsing experiences. I'm sure it is great if you're a kid who doesn't have a computer, and you want to look at cheesecake that you can't look at on the family computer, but other than that it's pretty useless. I can't imagine trying to use AIM Express or the GS Forums on the Wii browser, it would just be so painfully slow.

The final version of the Wii browser is pretty doggone good. Certain sites that rely heavily on very recent versions of Flash won't display properly, but everything else I tried seemed okay. I like the ability to use the entire display as usable real estate. There's no question that browsing on the PC will remain the superior and standard way of doing things. But that misses the point. (And I'll admit that I didn't understand initially why I would want a console browser either.) But the browser, the news channel, and the weather service all have a while I'm here type of convenience to them. If I want to make an online purchase or reply to e-mail, I'm certainly headed to my PC. But if I'm already at my console and just need to know tomorrow's weather, see the latest headlines, or find out if I have any e-mail I need to respond to, the capabilities of the Wii are golden. I would never have used it to compose this message, for instance, but using it to see what's new on GameSpot is real cool when I've just finished a game of Wii Sports baseball. Certainly, I think the Opera browser on the Wii is better than the browser on the PS3 (which looks terrible in my opinion). But the PS3 does have the advantage of being able to use a full keyboard and mouse, which would make more "serious" surfing possible. Still, it seems like the PS3 browser should be better than the PSP's, and right now it isn't.

It really is better than before that for sure. Some video suport would have been good, but well... what ca nwe expect with the Wii's memory and ram?

I'm on my wii and just to clear things up if you dl this before june you do ot have to pay! There is also no monthly fee!

It's neat, but what about running mpegs within the browser? It's sort of crappy knowing you can't watch some simple videos on your tv.

I was really hoping it'd include USB keyboard support. I can't imagine spending much time with the Wii browser without that feature.
