Update 2: Xur has departed for the weekend of Sept. 24-28. Here's where you can find Xur and his inventory of Exotics for the weekend of Oct. 1-5.

Update: Xur was previously located in the EDZ, but thanks to a crashing issue, Bungie has relocated him to the Tower for the rest of the weekend. This article has been updated to reflect the change.

Last week, Xur offered a whole bunch of killer Legendary weapons in addition to his usual haul of Exotics in Destiny 2. The Agent of the Nine is back in the solar system for another weekend, with a whole new crop of weapons, armor, and Legendaries for you to peruse. Here's where you can find Xur this weekend and what Exotics he's selling.

Head to the Tower, to the Hangar area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering Merciless (again). Hunters can pick up the Shinobu's Vow gauntlets; for Titans, there's the Wormgod's Caress gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Apotheosis Veil helmet.

All of Xur's Exotics are pretty solid this week, but special attention is worth paying to Shinobu's Vow and Wormgod's Caress. In PvP and the Trials of Osiris in particular, skip grenades have been very useful for Hunters, and Shinobu's Vow improves your skip grenades while also giving you a second grenade charge and returning grenade energy whenever you damage someone with them. Meanwhile, Wormgod's Caress is one of those perenially broken Exotics because players often find ways to use it to break high-level PvE encounters--it gives you a damage boost to your melee whenever you execute a melee kill, and in the right Titan builds, that can be huge against raid bosses and other tough opponents. Both sport high stat rolls, so they're worth cycling into your collection.

Xur's Legendary weapon offerings are back to normal this week, although there are one or two deserving of notice. Xur's Last Perdition with Kill Clip and Under Pressure is a solid workhorse for tough activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls, and his Main Ingredient has back with Backup Plan and Moving Target, plus pretty high range, isn't too bad for PvP, although not nearly as good as last week's excellent roll. None of the other guns are must-haves.

For Legendary armor, Xur is packing the Future War Cult Simulator set. Hunters can enjoy several pieces with stat rolls of 62, which are useful if you've got gaps in your loadout you want to fill. The offerings are slightly lower but still good for Warlocks, with a standout in the gauntlets department at 64. Titans also have a good slate if you really need them, but all the Titan armor is a bit lower in the stats department than for the other classes.

Xur Location

You can find Xur in the Hangar in the Tower (not the EDZ where he previously was located), standing near the edge of the building.

Spawn in at the central transmat zone in the Tower to find Xur this week. From there, turn left and head across the catwalk to the building there and take the stairs down to the Hangar. When you arrive, turn left and head to the north end of the area. Xur is at the top of a flight of stairs, standing on a catwalk.

Xur returns to the solar system every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. The thing is, where he'll land isn't known until he actually arrives. Xur can hang out at one of several locations, including in the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ. Xur's inventory also changes each week, so it's worth revisiting him on the weekends for new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Xur Exotic Items

Just like last week, Xur's Exotic weapon this week is Merciless, a solid if underloved fusion rifle. Merciless gains faster charging when you hit an enemy with it but don't kill them; that can be useful in emergencies in PvP, but it's better for ravaging boss enemies in PvE. More exciting, however, are the Hunter and Titan gauntlets Xur has on offer: Shinobu's Vow and Wormgod's Caress. Both are useful in different metas right now and come with high stat rolls, so you'll want to pick them up. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it--so if you're trying to get a new Titan helmet, don't buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram -- 97 legendary shards
  • Merciless -- 29 legendary shards
  • Shinobu's Vow -- 23 legendary shards
  • Wormgod's Caress -- 23 legendary shards
  • Apotheosis Veil -- 23 legendary shards
  • Xenology quest -- free
  • Legendary weapons and armor -- 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Each week, Xur offers one Exotic weapon and three pieces of Exotic armor: one for each character class. The inventory is random, as are the stat rolls you can expect on each of his armor offerings, so if you're looking to fill out your collection or if you're hoping for better versions of Exotics you already have, it's worth visiting him. Xur also brings an Exotic Engram, which is guaranteed to drop something you don't already have, if there are Exotics missing from your collection on that particular character--but that doesn't include Exotics you have to earn through activities, including the new Exotic armors added each season, which can only be claimed from Legendary or Master Lost Sectors.

Merciless (Fusion Rifle)

Merciless can be pretty devastating against bosses, especially with this season's mods for boosting fusion rifles.

Well, it's Merciless again this week. The fusion rifle has its upsides, especially in the Season of the Lost with its Particle Deconstruction mod from the seasonal artifact. Whenever you fire a shot that does damage but isn't lethal, the charge time on the next Merciless shot decreases. That means if you're leaning into boss damage, the gun will fire faster and faster with each blast, allowing you to really dish it out in tough encounters. If you do get a kill, you can reload Merciless to give it a quick damage boost, as well. While the gun goes largely ignored a lot of the time, this is a great season to mess around with it.

Shinobu's Vow (Hunter)

Get better skip grenades more often with Shinobu's Vow--you might want to try taking those into the Trials of Osiris this weekend.

Hunter players have been finding that skip grenades are pretty effective this season, particularly in the Crucible and Trials of Osiris. The grenades bounce off the ground and separate into several smaller pieces that track enemies, and with Shinobu's Vow, you get a second skip grenade charge, and their effectiveness is improved. You also get grenade energy back whenever you deal damage with your skips, so Shinobu's Vow can be extremely effective if using them is your bag.

Wormgod's Caress (Titan)

Gain a big increase to your melee damage whenever you land a melee kill with Wormgod's Caress. With the right builds, this can be devastating against tough enemies, including raid bosses.

Bungie has had to disable Wormgod's Caress a few times because the Exotic keeps breaking, which is a good indication of why you want it. When you land a melee kill with the Exotic on, your melee damage is significantly boosted, and more kills extend the boost even more. In the right circumstances and with the right high-damage Titan builds, you can use Wormgod's Caress to put serious hurt on PvE enemies. For a while, Wormgod's Caress was burning down Riven in the Last Wish raid in seconds. Xur has a nice, high stat roll on his version of the Exotic, so if you don't have this one, grab it.

Apotheosis Veil (Warlock)

For Warlock builds with high Intellect, Apotheosis Veil can be great, charging all your abilities whenever you pop your Super and giving your teammates a boost as well.

Apotheosis Veil is all about leveraging your Super to aid your team and yourself. When you pop your Super, the Exotic immediately regenerates your health and all your abilities. It also gives your nearby teammates a boost for their ability recharges, too. That can be great in tough PvE activities where you expect a lot of Supers, as well as with high-Intellect builds for PvP.
