Where Is Xur Today? (Sept. 10-14) - Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotics Guide

Xur's back for another weekend to sell you new Exotics in Destiny 2, along with another slate of Legendary weapons and armor.

Comments

Update: Xur has left the solar system for the weekend of September 10. Here's where you can find Xur and Exotics he's selling for the weekend of September 17-21.

Xur has expanded his operation in Destiny 2's Season of the Lost. Not only does he sell Exotic weapons and armor, the stuff he's brought since the first days of Destiny seven years ago, but he also now offers a special selection of Legendary guns and armor. With the return of the Trials of Osiris this weekend, you're going to want to see what Xur's got.

Head to the EDZ, to the Winding Cove area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering Monte Carlo. Hunters can pick up the Liar's Handshake gauntlets; for Titans, there's the Helm of Saint-14 helmet; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Claws of Ahamkara gauntlets.

Among the Legendary weapons Xur has on offer this week, there's nothing to really write home about. The Seventh Seraph Carbine isn't a bad auto rifle for PvP thanks to its range perks, but it's not great. The same is true of the Frozen Orbit sniper rifle, which carries Surplus and Box Breathing--a solid roll for PvE and workable in PvP, but not really god roll.

Xur is also offering the Black Armory Legendary armor set--the Annealed Shaper set for Warlocks, Woven Firesmith set for Hunters, and Forged Machinist set for Titans. The set has several decent stat rolls for Warlocks, and a couple of standout pieces for Hunters. For Titans, the set is middling at best.

Xur Location

Xur is standing on the cliff at the north end of Winding Cove. You can reach him by climbing up to the crashed Fallen Skiff there, or by following the cave pathway just beneath it.

Transmat into the EDZ at the Winding Cove spawn point to track down Xur. Hop on your sparrow and head north, bearing left to head up the overpass onramp there. When you get to the bend, look for a cave you can enter in the cliff face and take that up to the top, where a Fallen Skiff has crashed. Xur stands beside it, flanked by a group of Fallen fighters.

Xur returns to the solar system every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. The thing is, where he'll land isn't known until he actually arrives. Xur can hang out at one of several locations, including in the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ. Xur's inventory also changes each week, so it's worth revisiting him on the weekends for new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Xur Exotic Items

Xur is offering Monte Carlo this week, a strong auto rifle for any activity you want to play. The gun gets a damage boost both from kills you make with it and from melee kills, incentivizing you to wade into the fray for some close encounters with your enemies. Of Xur's other offerings, everything is decent but there are few standouts--although Hunters and Warlocks should definitely take a look at Xur's Legendary armor offerings to see if they can shore up their loadouts with a couple of high-stat additions. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it--so if you're trying to get a new Titan helmet, don't buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram -- 97 legendary shards
  • Monte Carlo -- 29 legendary shards
  • Liar's Handshake -- 23 legendary shards
  • Helm of Saint-14 -- 23 legendary shards
  • Claws of Ahamkara -- 23 legendary shards
  • Xenology quest -- free
  • Legendary weapons and armor -- 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Each week, Xur offers one Exotic weapon and three pieces of Exotic armor: one for each character class. The inventory is random, as are the stat rolls you can expect on each of his armor offerings, so if you're looking to fill out your collection or if you're hoping for better versions of Exotics you already have, it's worth visiting him. Xur also brings an Exotic Engram, which is guaranteed to drop something you don't already have, if there are Exotics missing from your collection on that particular character--but that doesn't include Exotics you have to earn through activities, including the new Exotic armors added each season, which can only be claimed from Legendary or Master Lost Sectors.

Monte Carlo (Auto Rifle)

With a good melee build, Monte Carlo becomes an awesome auto rifle for PvE situations, but its damage boosts make it good for PvP too.
With a good melee build, Monte Carlo becomes an awesome auto rifle for PvE situations, but its damage boosts make it good for PvP too.

Monte Carlo is the gun you take with you when you want to punch your way through enemies. The auto rifle gains a damage boost when you kill enemies with it, and that boost also stacks up when you make melee kills--so you should shoot and punch your way through all the enemies you can. What's more, every kill with Monte Carlo recharges part of your melee energy, with a chance to fully recharge it. So with a strong melee-focused build and an Exotic such as Liar's Handshake (which Xur is also offering), you can create a fun feedback loop of damage-boosting melee devastation. That's great for PvE, but the gun works well in PvP as well, thanks to its continual damage gains.

Liar's Handshake (Hunter)

This is a weak Liar's Handshake roll from Xur, but if you need the Exotic, it's still a fun one to play with.
This is a weak Liar's Handshake roll from Xur, but if you need the Exotic, it's still a fun one to play with.

Liar's Handshake is low-key one of the most fun Exotics for Hunters. When you use your Arc melee ability while wearing the gauntlets, you can follow up a punch with a second, stronger counterpunch that does a ton of damage, while also healing you. The counterpunch is also triggered if an enemy melees you, allowing you to make them pay for their audacity. Especially against smaller enemies, that counterpunch combo coupled with your Arc melee allows you to create a constant flow of counterpunches that wallop enemies and keep you alive. Pair the Exotic with a high Mobility build and lots of Gambler's Dodge moves to restore your melee ability, and you can punch your way through whole missions. Xur's not offering a great roll for this one, but Liar's Handshake is worth having in your collection regardless.

Helm Of Saint-14 (Titan)

Having Helm of Saint-14 in PvE situations with a lot of tough enemies can make surviving the onslaught a lot easier.
Having Helm of Saint-14 in PvE situations with a lot of tough enemies can make surviving the onslaught a lot easier.

The Helm of Saint-14 is all about helping keep your teammates alive, while punishing your enemies, and that makes it a solid choice in PvE situations where you want your Ward of Dawn Super. While you're wearing the Helm, allies gain an Overshield as they step into or out of your Ward of Dawn, while enemies are blinded if they walk into it. You can also blind nearby enemies when you use your Sentinel Shield, making them a lot easier to deal with when you're trying to help keep your team alive.

Claws Of Ahamkara (Warlock)

Throw more fireballs and disintegrate more enemies with your melee ability when wearing the Claws of Ahamkara.

Xur has a thing for melee builds this week, it seems. Claws of Ahamkara give Warlocks one simple boost: It provides you with a second melee ability charge. That's great if you're a Warlock who likes chucking fireballs or lightning at people, and coupled with Monte Carlo, should make it easier for you to keep your bonus damage stacks and continually set people alight from a distance.

Stats:

  • Mobility: 2
