Where Is Xur Today? (April 1-5) - Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotic Items Guide

Grab some new Exotics from Xur to get yourself ready for Grandmaster Nightfalls and other tough endgame content in Destiny 2.

Update: Xur has departed this week. Here's where you can find Xur and what Exotics he's selling for the weekend of April 8-12.

Destiny 2 players can get their hands on a new batch of Exotic and Legendary weapons and armor right now thanks to the arrival of Xur. Ahead of the launch of Grandmaster Nightfalls, you can pay the merchant visit to see what items he has for sale this weekend. Here's Xur's location and all of the items he has for sale.

Head to the Watcher's Grave on Nessus to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering the Exotic shotgun Tractor Cannon. Hunters can pick up the Oathkeeper gauntlets, Titans can grab the Helm of Saint-14 helmet; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Contraverse Hold gauntlets.

Xur's armor offerings are bugged once again, which leaves them with super-low total stats--you straight-up should not buy these. The only exception to that rule would be to fill out your Exotic collection with items you don't already have, but even then, you might want to wait or try to get them through Xur's Exotic Engram. Bungie noted in a recent blog post that it's aware of the issue with Xur's armor inventory, so hopefully, we'll see a fix for the issue soon. But this week's inventory demonstrates the fix is not yet in place, with weak stat totals for all four Exotics.

Hawkmoon's roll this week is its weakest possible, with Hip-Fire Grip, which doesn't really play to Hawkmoon's strengths--skip this one. Xur's Dead Man's Tale is more viable in both PvE and PvP thanks to Subsistence, which is a fun perk to use on this gun in both scenarios. Kills reward you with ammo, allowing you to keep firing, and especially at long ranges, it can make you extremely deadly with Dead Man's Tale while your opponents scramble to try to deal with you.

As for Legendary weapons, Xur doesn't have much you should really concern yourself with. All of his weapons can be decent in the right scenarios, including auto rifle Gnawing Hunger and submachine gun Death Adder, but they're not must-haves. If you like the Wishbringer shotgun, this Slideshot and Snapshot Sights with a Range Masterwork is solid for the Crucible. You might also want to grab The Swarm, a machine gun that's usually only available as a Nightfall reward.

Xur offers the Ancient Apocalypse armor set from the Season of Arrivals this week, but again, you should skip it unless you need the fashion. The stats are all very low once again, making this armor nearly useless except for aesthetic considerations.

Xur Location

As you spawn onto this part of the Nessus map, head straight for the large tree in front of you. Climb it, and you'll find Xur overlooking the Cabal battleground below.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic and Legendary Items

The Exotic weapon on offer this week, Tractor Cannon, is one of the oldest Exotics in the game. If you haven't obtained it yet, it's useful for weakening enemies and pushing them out of the way with its signature perks, The Scientific Method and Repulsor Force. For those players struggling to defeat tougher enemies, Tractor Cannon is a great tool for evening the playing field. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own from the world drop pool. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it--so if you're trying to get a new Titan helmet, don't buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram - 97 legendary shards
  • Tractor Cannon - 29 legendary shards
  • Oathkeeper - 23 legendary shards
  • Helm of Saint-14 - 23 legendary shards
  • Contraverse Hold - 23 legendary shards
  • Hawkmoon - 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Dead Man's Tale - 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Xenology quest - free
  • Legendary weapons and armor - 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Alongside changes in his location, Xur's inventory also rotates weekly. That means it's worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Tractor Cannon (Shotgun)

Before there was Divinity, there was Tractor Cannon, an Exotic that was excellent for helping fireteams dismantle tough PvE enemies quickly, easily, and hilariously. The shotgun goes in your Heavy slot and has the excellent effect of sending smaller enemies flying (or just shredding them) thanks to its repulsive energy blast. Against bigger targets, the impulse suppresses their abilities and makes them more vulnerable to damage, making it great for zonking a boss or elite enemy while the rest of your squad lays into them.

Oathkeeper (Hunter)

Oathkeeper makes it possible to lie in wait for your opponents with your bow drawn, an ability that can actually be extremely useful in the Crucible.

On its face, Oathkeeper is a very simple Exotic. Usually, when you draw a bow, you can only hold the charge for a certain amount of time before the bow fires on its own. With Oathkeeper, you can hold the charge forever. That's actually pretty useful when you're trying to prepare your bow shot for an enemy who's about to come around a corner or out from cover. It's also very useful with a bow like Wish-Ender, which gives you the ability to see through walls. If you've got a good bow build, especially in the Crucible, give this one a try. Well, not this one, since Xur's inventory continues to have terrible stats.

Ward of Dawn gets a little more effective against enemies with the Helm of Saint-14.

The Titan bubble Super, Ward of Dawn, is already a defensive powerhouse, but Helm of Saint-14 makes it even better. Any enemies who wander into your bubble are instantly blinded when you're using the helmet, while you and your allies who walk through the bubble gain an overshield. You can also blind enemies with the Sentinel Shield, which adds to its utility, too.

Used to be, Handheld Supernova was one of the deadliest abilities in the Warlock arsenal when playing in the Crucible. Times have changed thanks to some rebalancing on Bungie's part, but charged Void grenades can still be very useful, especially with Void 3.0. Contraverse Hold gives you increased damage resistance while you're charging your grenade to make sure you can get it there, and then gives you grenade energy back when you land a charged grenade hit, so you can charge them more often.
