Westworld Renewed for "Mysterious and Exciting" Season 2, Might Debut in 2018

[UPDATE] Entertainment Weekly reports that Westworld Season 2 will have 10 episodes and might premiere in 2018. HBO executive Casey Bloys said about Season 2, "[Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are] great storytellers. I didn't know exactly what to expect in Season 2. And what they came up with is as exciting, mysterious, and as fun as Season 1. And completely original, as well."

HBO has announced that Westworld has been renewed for a second season.

In a statement, HBO added that Westworld is averaging 11.7 million viewers season to date, which outpaces Game of Thrones and True Detective for similar points in their first seasons. The renewal order today is no big surprise, as HBO programming president Casey Bloys said not long ago that things were "looking good" for the show to get a second season.

HBO did not provide any details on the plot for Season 2, but creator Jonathan Nolan just recently shared some new insight into what viewers can expect. Read this spoiler-filled post to learn more.

A teaser clip posted on the Westworld Twitter account features some mysterious commentary from Dr. Ford, who is played by Anthony Hopkins. There is no word yet on when Season 2 will premiere.
