In a new interview, Wesley Snipes says he's currently making a "Blade-killer" movie, referring to the 1998 superhero-horror film that's perhaps given him the greatest commercial success of his career. Speaking with Uproxx, the actor shared why the next phase of his career is all about moving forward and not even thinking about revisiting old franchises.

When asked if he had any interest in reviving his role as the character Blade, the actor, who is also a martial artist, explained that he and his cohort "were white belts" when that original movie was made, adding: "Wait until you see now what we do as black belts… [my upcoming projects are] going to smoke all of the Blade stuff."

What's next, says Snipes, are two projects. One is "a female action franchise" and the aforementioned "Blade-killer," which is set "in the world of shape-shifters and a little bit of time travel… It's wonderful what we did [with Blade originally], but, brother, we're so much better than we were then." Snipes credits age, experience, and advances in technology as opening up many new exciting possibilities for his current work, promising in the interview that, "You won't be disappointed… If we're not better, shame on us."

When asked about the Marvel Cinematic Universe at a future phase also including Blade, and that Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, House of Cards) taking over the role that Snipes made famous, Snipes said he has no involvement with Marvel and those decisions but: "I support the young artists and I support Marvel in their business decisions. It's a beautiful thing. I think he's got a heck of a job on his hands."

Snipes appears in Coming 2 America, a direct sequel to 1988's Coming to America, which comes to Prime Video on March 3.
