OUTCAST: SECOND CONTACT GAMEPLAY VIDEO RELEASED

Bigben Interactive has released a gameplay trailer for Outcast: Second Contact, its remake of the classic 1999 sci-fi RPG Outcast. It preserves much of the Mass Effect-meets-Indiana Jones flavor of the original - hardly a surprise, given that many of its developers worked on the original.

Game Informer sat down with Naughty Dog's president Evan Wells for an interview about Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the challenges of expanding a small studio, and the early stages of development for The Last Of Us: Part II.

The recent retirement of longtime co-president Christophe Balestra has created some shakeup, but despite growing pains, Wells remains hopeful about the studio's direction.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and The Last Of Us: Part II will both be released for PS4. Release dates have not yet been announced.

PERSONA 5 GOES ANTISOCIAL

So much for Social Links.

Developer Altus has announced that Persona 5 will disable the PS4's photo- and video-sharing functionality. The move is a conscious decision to make players focus less on sharing their progress and more on experiencing the game. “This being a Japanese title with solely a single-playthrough story means Japan is very wary about it," said an Altus representative.

That hasn't stopped determined players, who took to Twitter with oddly angled photos of their screens taken on their phones. Necessity might not be the mother of invention, but frustration certainly is.

Persona 5 was released in Japan on September 16, 2016 for PS3 and PS4. Its worldwide release date is April 4, 2017.

DEATH COMES TO FIRE EMBLEM HEROES

In its upcoming update for Fire Emblem Heroes, Nintendo has announced a return to the franchise's roots with the introduction of permadeath. This feature will be limited to select maps, but will be sure to give longtime fans of the series the kind of nail-biting experience they expect.

Aside from the optional anxiety, the update also includes dramatically reduced stamina requirements for most actions, which means players can spend less time waiting and more time...well...playing.
