According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Tse has been tapped to write the feature film adaptation of Sony's Gran Turismo racing franchise.

Columbia Pictures, which is producing the movie, has yet to reveal any details about its plot or when it will hit theaters.

Tse has been and is currently involved with a number of geeky screenplays that overlap with a lot of gamers' interests. In 2009 he and David Hayter (who was, coincidentally, the voice actor for Solid Snake) co-wrote the screenplay for Zach Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen. This year, he wrote the script for Battling Boy, an adaptation of a graphic novel by Paul Pope. He is also writing the remake of the sci-fi cult classic, Highlander, and a live-action adaptation of the Ninja Scroll anime.

Hollywood has been scrambling for brand names they can turn into racing movie franchises ever since the success of Fast Five, which grossed $626,137,675 worldwide and Fast & Furious 6, which grossed $788,679,850.

Touchstone pictures is set to release an adaptation of Electronic Arts' Need for Speed (staring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul) in March 2014, while Legendary Pictures is developing a movie based on the Hot Wheels toy cars.

Unless Dr Manhattan drives all the cars at the same time, I don´t care about this movie.

Another racing game film adaptation? The last Fast and the Furious movie did really, really well, but I don't know if others will be more than Fast and the Futile.
