A tribute to late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata aired last night during the Game Developers Choice Awards. It is a beautiful piece that pays homage to the gaming pioneer who once said, "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."

Check it out below.

The animation was done by Raber Umphenour and David Hellman, while the lovely music came from Shawne Benson. Chris Kohler was the story consultant for this project.

Iwata died in July 2015 after a battle with cancer. He was only 55.

The new Nintendo president is Tatsumi Kimishima, who leads the company as it enters the smartphone market and plans to launch a new console codenamed NX.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took home the award for overall Game of the Year at the Game Developers Choice Awards. You can see a roundup of all the winners here.
