Watch the Gears of War 4 Launch Trailer
Gears of War 4 is due out on October 11 for Xbox One and PC.
After teasing it yesterday, Microsoft today released Gears of War 4's official launch trailer. The game is still 22 days away, so this is one of the earlier launch trailers we've ever seen.
The video is actually titled the "gameplay launch trailer," suggesting a cinematic launch trailer may come later. Whatever the case, you can watch the video above.
The gameplay launch trailer sets up some of the story, showing off the new cast of characters, JD Fenix, Kait, and Del, who fight alongside original hero Marcus Fenix in some sequences. Also highlighted here are some new enemy-types and vehicles. Lissie's cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" is heard behind the action.
Gears of War 4 launches on October 11 for Xbox One and PC, though if you buy the $100 edition, you can play four days early, starting on October 7. The game is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, so if you buy it digitally on Xbox One, you get a free digital copy of the PC version for free and vice versa.
Developer The Coalition also today shared some new campaign details on Gears of War 4. For more, check out GameSpot's just-published preview, "Gears of War 4's Campaign Mixes Guns and Gore with Storytelling and Atmosphere." Some new screenshots can be seen in the gallery below.
