Watch the Creepy New Resident Evil 7 Trailer
Resident Evil 7 comes out in 2017.
Capcom today released a new trailer for Resident Evil 7 that teases out new story details. Depicted in the video is Marguerite from the Beginning Hour demo and a young woman. The video, presented in the form of a found footage video tape, is pretty gripping and creepy. Capcom also mentions in a blog post that the graphical effects of the found footage tape do not represent what the actual game will look like.
We don't know what Marguerite wants from the young woman or if she'll manage to escape the horrible house. Whatever the case, she's not a playable character.
"While the young woman may be the focus of this particular found footage video tape segment, you won't be playing as her in the main game," Capcom said.
Resident Evil 7 was officially announced during Sony's E3 2016 briefing in June. The game launches on January 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
PS4 owners who have a PlayStation Plus membership can download the Beginning Hour demo now. The demo is proving popular, as it reached 2 million global downloads as of the start of July. It also set the record for the most-downloaded single-player PS4 demo in its first week of release in North America.
2016 is the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, as the first game debuted in 1996. The next Resident Evil movie, starring Milla Jovovich, comes out in January 2017--watch the first trailer here.
