Watch Matt Damon Defend the Great Wall from Giant Monsters in New Trailer

Why isn't this a conspiracy theory yet?

While Matt Damon spends a lot of his time kicking butt as Jason Bourne, he'll be helping defend China from a monstrous threat in Legendary and Universal Pictures' The Great Wall.

Damon is joined by Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, and Willem Dafoe in this upcoming film which asks the question, "What if the Great Wall was built to fend off monsters and not Mongolians?" It's sounds like something that was found buried deep on a conspiracy theory forum.

Now Playing: The Great Wall - Teaser Trailer

Director Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) takes on his first English-language production, which also happens to be the largest film shot entirely in China. Yimou is primarily known for his visuals in his films, which the trailer showcases through bright colors and a few aerobatic moments.

Narcos writers Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, along with Bourne franchise writer Tony Gilroy, worked on the screenplay for The Great Wall, which is based off a story by Max Brooks (World War Z).

The Great Wall will be released in 3D sometime in February 2017.
