Beyond Thunderdome was a bigger insult to the (already mediocre) franchise anyway.

@seven7swords: Age of Ultron also had an absurd amount of marketing and name recognition behind it. The standalone Iron Man, Captain America and Thor movies, toy and video-game tie-ins, all on top of the hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising... Fury Road, in comparison, may as well be an indie film.

Besides, Fury Road is rated R; how many 7-12 year olds saw Age of Ultron on opening weekend, and how many of those same kids are going to be able to see Mad Max?

Profits don't say much about the quality of a movie. I haven't seen Age of Ultron yet, and I'm sure it was a perfectly good superhero movie (as the first Avengers was definitely enjoyable,) but Fury Road was absolutely incredible. Streets ahead of the Avengers. The best action movie I've seen in ages, probably my all-time favorite action movie along with Terminator 2.

I guess what I'm saying is,
Mad Max: Fury Road >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Ticket sales =/= quality. By that logic 50 shades of grey is a masterpiece.
