Watch Ghost in the Shell Movie's Ultra-Stylish First Teasers

The first teasers for the upcoming live-action adaptation of classic anime film Ghost in the Shell have been released. The five promos are very short, but provide an initial look at the impressive style and atmosphere of the cyberpunk thriller, which stars Scarlett Johansson. Check them out in the playlist below:

Ghost in the Shell stars Johansson as the Major, who leads a futuristic anti-terrorist taskforce known as Section 9. It also features Game of Thrones' Pilou Asbæk as the Major's partner Batou, plus Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, and Michael Pitt. Ghost in the Shell was one of the key anime films to break through to a western audience during the 1990s. It was created by Masamune Shirow, and originally published as a manga series in 1989.

The popularity of the manga led to four anime movies, the latest of which, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, was released last year. There have also been a number of video games.

Ghost in the Shell is directed by Rupert Sanders, who previously helmed the fantasy hit Snow White and the Huntsman. It hits theaters on March 31, 2017.
