Watch Gears of War 4's New Gameplay Video, See Marcus Mourn His Tomatoes

Plus, meet a new race called the Deebees.

Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition has released a new eight minute gameplay video showing off a new race in the game and the return of Marcus Fenix.

Unlike the fleshy Locust the series has featured so far, the new race, called the Deebees, are robots. This looks like it changes the feel of the shooting experience, taking it closer to something like Binary Domain.

The gameplay takes place on the Fenix estate, so we get to hear Marcus get really upset about his tomatoes being ruined. He may be as angry as ever, but his priorities have clearly changed.

Gears of War 4's campaign follows JD Fenix, Del, and Kait, but will feature Marcus Fenix. In August 2015, The Coalition's Rod Fergusson said Gears of War 4 is aiming to tell a more intimate, personal, and morally ambiguous narrative than the past few games in the series.

He explained that while the first Gears of War was a suspenseful game about the dangerous creatures in the universe, Gears of War 3 was too focused on the war between humans and Locusts and, as a result, lost that tension. This time, the studio is returning to its roots by evoking "that sense of mystery" and "things going bump in the night."

Gears of War 4 launches on October 11 as an Xbox Play Anywhere game. This means you can buy a digital copy on either Xbox One or PC and receive access on both platforms. The PC version will support dynamic resolution scaling similar to what's seen on Xbox One, where the frame rate is locked at 30 FPS in single-player and 60 FPS in multiplayer.

The Coalition recently revealed the many ways in which the game has changed since its beta earlier this year and teased that a movie based on the series could be on the way.

I'm really confused about robots in my Gears.?. I thoroughly enjoyed the original trilogy (and would certainly recommend the books for those who are into such things).

I would really like to see some Horde footage! Some of my favorite gaming experiences have been just going through 50 waves with friends.

@SCImonTemplar: You could be onto something there, the robots are called DeeBee which is the phonetic translation of DB, Damon Bairds initials.

Looks good but you can't help but think I wish it was the same character we were using, we had it with MGS4 the old guy kicking ass so can we not have it with Phoenix?

Just a small gripe I guess.

A new enemy. Gears 4 is building a nice variety. Keep going.

Now is just need to watch the Horde 3.0 gameplay, but since last week's gameplay I'm sold.

Robots? that kinda ruins the thought of this game being dark and gritty like the first one, this 8 minutes of gameplay instantly made the game look goofier.

Shooting robot bullet-sponges isn't fun. It wasn't fun in Destiny and it wasn't fun in Black Ops 3.
