Now Playing: Skylanders Academy - Netflix Trailer

It's the first production from Activision Blizzard Studios, the company's TV and movie division that also has plans for a Call of Duty film and more.

A second season of Skylanders Academy has already been announced; it will premiere in late 2017.

As for the Skylanders gaming series, the newest title, Skylanders Imaginators, comes out this month for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. As the game's name suggests, one of the unique elements of the new game is that it lets you create your own unique character. Some of the characters can even be 3D-printed.

Heading up the new Activision Blizzard Studios is former Disney executive Nick van Dyk and Pulp Fiction producer Stacey Sher. They serve as the division's co-presidents.

Skylanders Academy is produced by animation studio TeamTO, which also made Ubisoft's Rabbids Invasion.
