Now Playing: Captain Marvel - Official Trailer #2

A new trailer for Marvel's next big superhero movie, Captain Marvel, premiered during Monday Night Football on ESPN earlier this week and it provides the best look yet at the Brie Larson-starring movie yet, offering up new insight into the plot and what appears to be a new origin story for the character.

The trailer also shows off a better look at the Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Jude Law as a Kree commander, and the two-eyed, digitally de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. We also see Annette Bening's character for the first time--she's a Kree. This trailer is heavy on exposition, as it also goes into the Skrull/Kree relationship, and finally explains that old lady-punching incident from the previous trailer. You can check out the full trailer in the embed above.

Captain Marvel is set to premiere in March 2019. The first Captain Marvel trailer came online in September, and just like we did that for one, we'll have a in-depth breakdown of this newest trailer covering all the big takeaways.

In addition to Larson, Law, Mendelsohn, and Jackson, the movie features Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, and Gemma Chan as Minn-Rrva. You can see a full breakdown of who's in the movie here.

Larson, who won the Best Actress Oscar for his role in Room, will play Captain Marvel again in 2019's untitled Avengers 4.

I'm expecting good Marvel origins story. In line with Iron Man, Thor, other heroes' origins stories.

"Problem" (for me) is that latest Avengers were really amazing, and last Thor was so funny and entertaining... expectations have gone up. I expect this flick to have good balance of Marvel references, action, humor and proper respect for characters, and to be good hero flick in its own rights - but I can see it being perceived as lesser one, in light of recent hits. I guess there's no way around it.

Brie will do well. Marvel hasn't really made bad casting so far. She is good actress and, while she is not stereotypical Ms. Marvel from comics, neither were some others that have nevertheless owned their characters. Like Wolverine guy, Jackman.

This movie is probably going to be good but the trailer is kinda generic, earnest "Wonder Woman meets Captain America." Almost DC-looking. Luckily trailers don't mean much. Looks like XXX-era Sam L will have a juicier role though, probably losing an eye by the end.

@HardStomp: "Earnest" and "DC-looking" are a good words for it. "I'm not going to fight your war. I'm going to end it." is about as difficult a line to pull off as, "Do you bleed? You will.", and I don't think Captain Marvel's managed it here any better than Batman v. Superman did.

Not that I expect this movie to be anywhere near the trash fire Dawn of Justice was.

I'm pretty sure its just me, but I can't not see her with anything other than a "resting bitch face" at all times. Like she's pissed off at all times for no reason whatsoever.

Oh man I love reading the comments from frustrated virgins who hate any movie that has a female lead, get over it, just calm down, get a juice box, sit on your couch and take a big breath, and tell yourself "I'm a big boy, I can get over having to watch a movie starring a female" and also remember, you'll never get laid lol, peace out losers hahahahaha.

P.S. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaaah

@mkeezay22: most people aren't complaining about the movie featuring a woman, if you pay attention. They're saying that Brie herself doesn't look too great for the role, and judging from the trailers it hasn't sold us enough yet, plain and simple.

"So like, OMG like, I'm totally going to kill these guys"

Did anyone else felt like Brie Larson was talking like that?

Terrible Trailer.

Avatar image for Mogan

@tlpina: I did get a little bit of a surfer girl vibe from this trailer, yeah. I feel like it's got to be super hard delivering "badass" lines in an action movie without sounding stupid. When I think blond, female movie badass, I think of either Uma Thurman, in Kill Bill, or Emily Blunt, in Edge of Tomorrow. Brie Larson isn't quite doing it for me in this trailer. But, it's just a trailer; full movie will probably be better; Marvel has a good track record.

@mkeezay22: Hence the "Felt Like", meaning, even thou she didn't use these words, that's what it felt like.

Badly timed, terribly vain generic phrasing, poorly delivered.

i wouldnt expect this movie to be all that great. Afterall, it's the origin story movie. the origin stories are usually the most boring ones. Can you imagine how boring spider man homecoming would of been if it had been an origin story of how he got bit? the sequels are more exciting because we dont have to watch how the hero got his/her powers. Either way, i suppose we'll see how good it is when it's released

seems a bit disappointing given how fun the Infinity war story has been so far...

Avatar image for mkeezay22

@zerohournow: Infinity War is a much bigger movie than any of the single character based movies, why do you think movies like Thor or Iron Man series aren't as big as Infinity War, they can't make every movie the end of a saga they've been building toward for over a decade.

Avatar image for Mogan

@mkeezay22: I think he's talking about ALL the previous Marvel movies that have lead up to Infinity War.
