A video game speedrunning event that raises money for charity has begun.

More than 100 gamers are taking part in the newest Awesome Games Done Quick event, which runs for 160 hours straight, though January 15. The players will speedrun through classic games like Super Metroid and Donkey Kong, as well as newer titles like Hyper Light Drifter and Dark Souls III.

They'll be playing some lesser-known games as well. On Thursday, January 12, at 4:11 AM ET, someone will play the Wayne's World game. You can see the complete Awesome Games Done Quick schedule right here.

You can watch all the action through the Games Done Quick Twitch Channel, while archived speedruns will be available on the Games Done Quick YouTube Channel.

2015's winter Awesome Games Done Quick raised $1.5 million and organizers said this year's event is "poised to compete" with that figure. After only a day, this year's Awesome Games Done Quick has raised more than $169,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation; $39.45 is the average donation right now.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation was founded in 1985. The non-profit organization is focused on cancer prevention and early detection through research, education, and advocacy.

"We are honored to partner with Awesome Games Done Quick and the gaming community around the world for cancer prevention and early detection," Prevent Cancer Foundation executive Jan Bresch said in a statement. "This community has been instrumental in funding national and global research projects that are critical to saving lives."
