Watch a '90s TV Commercial for League of Legends

You'll only need about 3,000 floppy disks.

How would you advertise League of Legends if it came out in the '90s? Rizenvisual, a video game parody YouTube channel has put together a pretty faithful (and hilarious) approximation.

Assuming your Intel 486 machine is connected to world wide web, it will only take you 3,000 floppy disks and several days to install League of Legends.

If the commercial got you feeling nostalgic, you should also check out the Kickstarter pitch video for Strafe, "the fastest, bloodiest, deadliest, most adjective-abusing, action-packed first-person shooter of 1996."

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Glad to see another (I assume) Strafe backer. So glad that game got funded. They got a surge of money on the last few hours.

This commercial was okay but the recently funded Strafe game's 90's style commercial is just pure gold. Strongly recommend people to check it out on YouTube.

I had a Commodore with 2 5.25 floppy drives and no hard drive and a Amiga 500 w/ expansion card. The Amiga was a wonderful machine back in the day.

This fits perfectly with the "gamers are all moronic losers" narrative that is being spewed about by the gaming press lately.

I have no idea why they are doing it.

"Free disk space; 12GB" The game itself is larger than hard drives were back then. I got my first pc in 99, and it had a 10GB hard drive. My second pc in 03 only had a 60GB drive.

My first was a Dell 386 DX33 4MB RAM, 80MB HDD, 512KB EISA graphics card, 1x 5.25" Floppy and 1x 3.5" Floppy. Master of Orion and old AD&D gold box games were my main games of the early 90's.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Yeah, I didn't get a pc til rather late. I used to go over to my friend's, and play Wolf3D, Duke 3D, and The Need for Speed back in 95.

That pc I got in 99 had a pathetic 8MB graphics card. I upgraded to a 3DFX Voodoo 5, and went from 1 frame every two seconds in GTA 2, to so fast that I crashed the game! I had the frame limiter turned off.

In the mid to late 90's, I had a PS1 and a Saturn.

<< LINK REMOVED >> It's funny.... I look back at all that, and even though our tech was so limited and dated, I would happily relive all of it in a heartbeat. I think we appreciated things a lot more back then than we do now.

Our expectations are way too high nowadays. Ever play Quake II WITHOUT a 3DFX card? o_o

This would be funny if it were for a game that's actually big like Total War or Titanfall, where the games are 60gb.

<< LINK REMOVED >> They should make 2 power gloves now for the oculus rift, and then make a power ranges game in first person, where you have to make epic poses and when you succeed, the game shows it in frontal view how you do it, and then it switched back to first person view and you see yourself jumping into the mech, that height would make you pretty dizzy. And then you strike poses in your mech to make attacks or special attacks, or when you got a hit by a big one, you have to strike a pose to keep your balance. Anyways you get the idea. XD
