Wasteland Studio's New Game Sure Looks A Lot Like BioShock Infinite
A new trailer for the RPG Clockwork Revolution from inXile Entertainment looks a lot like BioShock Infinite, and some are commenting on the similarities.
Xbox revealed the new RPG Clockwork Revolution during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, and while it certainly lives up to that title, its visual similarities to 2013's BioShock Infinite are rather obvious. So obvious, in fact, that a Microsoft spokesperson reached out to IGN to clarify that any similarities between the two games are "unintentional."
A little over 10 years ago I got to produce the BioShock Infinite trailers, so those scenes are scorched into my brain. Watching the trailer for Clockwork Revolution today I felt like I was having a flashback, so I made some comparisons to see if I was crazy

This became a major talking point after Twitter user Butmac (who claims to have worked on the trailers for BioShock Infinite) made some side-by-side comparisons in order to show off what they mean. Though it's clear that the games share a similar aesthetic across the board, some of the imagery used is so on-the-nose that you can understand why people had this reaction.
This is especially true of the mech designs and the use of Art Deco fonts. To be fair, BioShock Infinite did not invent the steampunk genre, but it's only natural that people would compare this upcoming game to what is generally considered the most notable game in that style so far.
Important to know that Clockwork Revolution is a true RPG with all of the stats, crunchy details and deep reactivity that we’re known for.

Clockwork Revolution is under development at inXile Entertainment, the studio behind well-known RPGs like Torment: Tides of Numenera and the Wasteland series. Described as a "deep RPG" by studio head Brian Fargo, the game will apparently feature full character creation and a branching dialogue system. Based on these statements, it's seems that the game will not have a lot in common with the BioShock series on a mechanical level, given that Infinite was more of a linear shooter than an RPG.
