Wasteland 2's crowdfunding campaign launched on Kickstarter with a goal of $900,000, but managed to accrue a total of $2,933,252 in pledges.

According to its developer, Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition will include a number of improvements. In terms of gameplay changes, Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition will offer new Perks & Quirks that can be used to customize Desert Rangers. Each addition will come with its own set of bonuses and sacrifices.

In combat, individual body parts can now be targeted thanks to the new Precision Strike system. By focusing on specific body parts players can get the tactical edge and inflict grievous damage. Game balance, item drops, and combat encounters have also been tweaked.

Additionally, the game has been ported to Unity 5, allowing it to benefit from improved character models, environment textures, better lighting, and Physically Based Rendering. New lines of voice-over have also been recorded for the re-release.

In March it was announced that Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition was coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

InXile is also working on The Bard's Tale IV, which will have its own crowdfunding campaign later this year.
