At the Macworld Expo this morning in New York, Blizzard announced that its upcoming real-time strategy game Warcraft III will ship simultaneously for Macintosh and PC systems. Like the PC version, the Macintosh version of the game will feature various single-player scenarios along with a robust online multiplayer mode using Blizzard's proprietary Battle.net service. As with Blizzard's other Battle.net-compatible games, Warcraft III will let PC users and Mac users play with or against each other. The game will also be optimized for OS X to take advantage of the new Mac operating system's technical strengths. Warcraft III is scheduled to ship at the end of the year.
