The Video Software Dealers Association, the trade organization that represents the $24 billion home entertainment industry (think retail outlets in the US that sell and rent DVDs, VHS cassettes, and console games) held its annual Home Entertainment Awards yesterday. The awards are part of the organization's Home Entertainment Convention, held each year in Las Vegas.

While most of the 25 categories have a clear focus on film, a few categories recognize those games that drove significant revenues from rental fees to VSDA members.

This year, the game-specific categories and winners were:

GameCube Video Game of the Year
Mario Party 6, Nintendo of America

PlayStation 2 Video Game of the Year
Gran Turismo 4, Polyphony Digital

Xbox Video Game of the Year
Halo 2, Microsoft Game Studios

A few of the awards that went to films with a strong presence in the game space were as follows:

Family Title of the Year
The Incredibles, Buena Vista Home Entertainment

Hall of Fame
Scarface, Universal Studios Home Entertainment

Marketing Campaign of the Year From a Major Studio
The Incredibles, Buena Vista Home Entertainment

Sell-Through Title of the Year From a Major Studio
The Incredibles, Buena Vista Home Entertainment
